aint no such thing as reserved seating at a Black college game... who every pays for reserved seats is waisting money... buy a ticket and sit anywhere you want to. The same people who buy general admission tickets will be sitting on the 50 yard line.
I wish the game much success. It would be good for the conference if the attendance increase. Everyone in the conference should be pulling for a nice crowd. The graduation situation is unfortunate......But such is life.
Go SWAC.....
AAMU's fall commencement is SATURDAY MORNING! When those kids get their degrees, they'll be high-tailin' it down I-65 immediately thereafter.
What do you know about ticket sales? You give Tyrone a $5 at the back gate to get you in.
The inaugural SWAC Championship Game, pitting Southern vs. Jackson State in 1999, drew a record 47,621 fans. But crowds have thinned ever since, falling to 20,612 last season as GSU beat Alabama A&M.
SWAC officials are reporting 50 percent more tickets sales so far for Saturday's game, which has been bolstered by a favorable weather forecast and some related city-sponsored events.
That would mean 30,918. But I do beleive it will top 40,000

UAPB's resurgence quite a story
Associated Press
LITTLE ROCK ? Quick ? name the most surprising accomplishment by an Arkansas football team this year.
Was it Arkansas' 10-game winning streak and trip to the Southeastern Conference championship game after two straight losing seasons?
What about Central Arkansas' 8-3 mark in its first year in Division I-AA?
Shouldn't Arkansas State receive credit for winning six games in back-to-back seasons for the first time in about 20 years?
Or how about d) none of the above?
Arkansas-Pine Bluff, a perennial afterthought in the state's football consciousness, will make its first appearance in the Southwestern Athletic Conference championship game Saturday against Alabama A&M in Birmingham, Ala.
UAPB went 3-8 last year, its fourth losing record in five seasons. But the Golden Lions are on a roll now. They've won seven straight and are 8-3 heading into this weekend's game ? part of a remarkable year in which Arkansas' four Division I schools are a combined 32-15.
UAPB's next hurdle, however, will be difficult. Alabama A&M (8-3) lost to the Golden Lions 23-21 during the regular season, but that game was at Pine Bluff. Now, the teams will meet in Birmingham, about 100 miles from Alabama A&M's campus and a lot farther from UAPB's.
Also, the Golden Lions will be without starting quarterback Chris Wallace for the first two quarters. Wallace, the SWAC offensive player of the year, is suspended for the first half after being ejected from UAPB's regular-season finale against Texas Southern.
ALABAMA A&M 28, ARKANSAS-PINE BLUFF 21
???
Season record: 63-31 (67 percent)
yeah phugg it!!! we feel the same way when SU is in it....and AAMU aint. go figure...
its nothin new that certain people want the game to fail in some way or have a low turnout. Its a good example of how negative black fplks can be..which is kinda funny lmao
Paul Mooney where ya at? lol
You have to take into account that the majority of these students will have their family and friends coming from all over the country to see them graduate. They won't be coming to also go to B-ham. With your families coming in town, going back out of town for a football game becomes less of a priority.
I am telling you with all certainity that if 20,612 one year and the next year 50% more than that are sold, then 30,918 would be sold the next year.I think you are mis-interpreting this. :smash: :read:

<!-- END TEMPLATE: bbcode_quote -->50% of 20,612 is 10,306
50% more than last year is 20,612 + 10,306=30,918
My correction is that the article therefore does not say the attendance will be 40,000.
Ticket sales are up 50% from the same time before the game day...that is how you look at the numbers. If last year - 3 days before the game only 4000 tickets had been sold, then that means right now 6000 tickets have been sold. And I am not using those numbers as anything definate, just showing an example of how you track sales of this nature.
Like Xmas shopping, people can tell you that sales are up or down by 3% from this same time last etc...its by taking in the sales totals from this date and comparing them to the same date as the previous year.
exactly... i dont understand how buddy is understanding it as 50% of entire previous yeards attendence.... they were speaking of at the same time.
