Word of caution for SU, GSU and UAPB on JSU's referees.......

This was the lowest of the low in SWAC officiating at the ASU/JSU game. I have never seen referees cheat for a team in the way they cheated for JSU. Atleast two of JSU's touchdowns came in the hands of obviously bad calls by the referees. You name it, the refs did it for JSU. From stopping the clock, to starting the clock, from starting the "second clock" on the field to stopping the second clock, from adding time on the clock when JSU was out of timeouts to giving JSU a extra timeout, from not calling JSU for lining up off sides, to calling penalities on JSU, then waving the flag off for a no call. This mess went on for the entire game. Southern, Grambling and UAPB you will loose in Veterans Memorial Stadium if you aren't up by three touchdowns with two minutes to play. With the number of bad calls, Bama State could have scored 70-80 points on JSU. And every JSU fan know HORNETSWARM is telling the truth. The head referee literally tried to give JSU the game on their "Homecoming". On a returned kick, one of JSU's players did a "block in the back" on two of ASU players. Two referees were right there watching the whole thing, and they both threw their flags on the JSU player, and the head referee ran thirty yards down field, conferred with the other two referees, then the head referee waved the flag off. This bad call aloud JSU to score a touchdown on the kick return.

the only thing i will agree on you with is that one timeout... i didnt know where it came from. I was upset with all the flags being thrown regardless to who it was against. Seemed like not one play could be played fully without the flags...

As many penalties and penalty yardage JSU got, man please. I remember the scoreboard saying we had no timeouts when we called that last TO. But I couldn't remember if we had actually called one or not. There were bad calls all around. Y'all got just as many as we did. And only on that punt return was there a questionable call on a JSU TD.

The officials were terrible!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

On that punt return, it was clearly a block in the back way back on JSU's 35 yard line. The official was standing so close to the spot where the foul happened, he didn't have to throw his flag, he just layed it down at the spot where it happened. Manning goes on to score and what happened? The officials go into a 3 minute conference and then wave the flag off, resulting in a TD for JSU and their only lead of the day!!!
I have NEVER seen anything like that, EVER!!!!!!!

They had got so bad at one point, LC got a 15 yard unsportsmanlike penalty for arguing with the officials. They were pathetic!!!!!

At one point, Kent runs out of bounds on ASU's sideline and slips down, without being hit. The officials call late hit out of bounds on ASU. Then proceed to mark off 20 yards, instead of 15.

Regarding the timeouts, I know the scoreboard showed them with NO timeouts, but they got another one. Maybe the scoreboard was wrong on that one.

The clock management was awful. Anybody notice that they held the clock for JSU to get another play off at the end of the game? How convenient was it to keep :01 on the clock.

The SWAC really need to do something about this mess.

Obviously you did not see Kent got hit. Not only did a player from the field hit him but a player from the sidelines tried to hurt him. He should called Clark Kent cuz the boy is just amazing. He bouced right back up and gave us a score....Everyone on JSU side saw that.

C'mon now blu
Be real for a minute. Nobody tried to hurt Kent. He slipped down!

And you say everybody on JSU's side saw it?? All the way on the other sideline?

ummm okay

It must have been one of our cheerleaders that hit Kent late out of bounds, or maybe a Stingette, 'cause it sure as "L" wasn't a football player. The mug slipped, and it was obvious. I was sitting directly in front of the play, and it wasn't even close.

JSU folks know that the officiating was shameful. But it didn't help 'em.

HORNETS WIN, BABY. HORNETS WIN ! ! !

It was a blatent late hit. I was on Bama's side and I got and excellant view of the whole thing

Kool Aid,
If your All-everything QB got a "blatent late hit" out of bounds on the sideline, don't you think his offensive line or one of his teammates would have come to his defense???

The reason why they didn't come to his defense is because it was clear that he slipped down. I know it, the offensive line knew it and Kent knew it!! As soon as he slipped down, he popped right back up!!

It was a bad call, nothing more, nothing less!!!

He didn't slip. It was a late hit. As far as the other players coming to his rescue, Kent is a big boy. He got right up after that hit, and why should JSU start a fight over nothing?

Wait a minute? Start a fight over nothing? A teammate getting hit late out of bounds is nothing? C'mon man, you need to clear your comments with your "legal" folk overthere before you say something so weak.

Either your players don't give a dayum about there teammate or they are cowards and quitters? Which is it?

Probably both, but most likely...it's just that Kent didn't get hit. Well get ready for him to get hit late, early, whenever as soon as the GMen roll to town! Believe That!!!!

spin doctor

Robber,

your spinning days are over. Kinda hard to spin this one uhhh! Too bad the war have started, you and GR probably had something to do with this to keep me out of Jackson. Payback is a mo-fo.
Will someone from the Nation bring a camera and get these clown on film next week for me???? Priceless !!!!!!!!

I didn't know JSU had referees. I thought they were SWAC referees. That means they are ASU's ref's as much as JSU's ref's.

Don't forget that when the ref's put time back on the clock, when they failed to stop it after a first down, they shorted us about 5 seconds. The calls will usually net out because each team gets bad/no calls. I was on the sideline and ASU was holding on almost every play. If you got paid for holding and clipping ASU would be 1-A already.

I couldn't believe it when I looked up and saw :01. I thought the clock operator might have won the game for JSU, because our DBs were getting burned.

It was a miracle.

First of all, the officiating sucked all around. Second, it was a late hit. Third, that next to last play should've ended the game, no way that pass play took just 4 seconds. And I didn't think we had a time-out left either, but i guess we did. But the officials cost us at least 10-15 seconds on that last drive. The bottom line is this, In nearly every SWAC game I've been to, the officiating has been bad. In the end, it was a wash. ASU won cause they made the plays, we didn't. If Story hadn't dropped that pass, we would've won cause we made the plays. Its that simple, enough about the refs.

If the refs would have done their damn jobs, JSU wouldn't have been in a position to try and score with one second remaining.

This is a funny thread to me!! All I can say is this. At most SWAC games, the refs are terrible. They are usually to incompetent to really cheat a lot for anyone, they mess calls up for both teams. It sometimes is just luck on which plays they mess up and how it helps (or hurts) a particular team. Sometimes I don't think they even know which team is the home team. Sure they probably cheat some, but there incompetence makes me madder.

I'm going to say it one more time, SU, GSU and UAPB. " A word of caution, look out for JSU referees and not SWAC referees".

I don't want anyone from jsu talking about PHANTON CALLS.
*I saw refs waiving off clipping calls. (can 2 refs be that wrong)

during the last drive along..
*Adding time back on the clock.
*Clock not even running.
*Stopping the clock when the player was not out of bounds
*creating time outs

I don't go to or care about who won the game neither one was my team.

bad calls all day!

<H>JSU SURE GOT SOME HOMECOOKING THAT DAY</H3>

You Bama fans are reaching. You won the damn game. And bad calls went both ways. I don't see y'all beeching about that fumble return for a TD. Goss's ass was down. I don't see y'all beeching about the clock no stopping after a JSU timeout. They shorted us 5 seconds. I don't see y'all beeching about that white ref who mysteriously stopped the clock and had the 25 second clock reset on a critical 3rd down play. Y'all had about 2 seconds left and was gonna get a delay of game penalty. Y'all didn't see any of that.

As for the hit on Kent, believe me he was hit by a Bama State player. BUT, I thought it was Kent's momentum that caused him to get knocked on his ass. He was at full speed and ran into the guy. I thought y'all got a bad break on the call.
