Funny thing is that half the people tripping off the statement (1) Don't even know who the fukk Bill Bennett is (2) Probably have never heard about anything else Bill Bennett has done and/or said (3) Couldn't tell you the percentage of AA locked up in jail anyway. I promise you that this will all be blown over with after this weekend's football games. That's how much follow through some of these so called "black leaders" have. They always seem to pick the wrong battles.

Let me ask...

As some of you look at the percentage of blacks in prison and cosign for this racist, but can we also look at the legal system and review convition and sentencing of Black and poor folk compared to others.

I'm concerned when we read blind statistics an cosign that he has a point. I believe that we as a people have our issues, but saying in essence "he's a *****hole, but he has a point" is like giving the devil the benefit of the doubt.

Yes, it was taken out context. I heard a replay of the ENTIRE conversation with the caller. The discussion was referring to a book called Freakanomics or something like that. Anyway, it state a possible reason for the drop in the crime rate was due to the number of abortions in this country. Bennett's comments was based on statistics that show crime is committed disportionally by blacks. I know a lot of us don't like to hear that, but it is true. He immediately said that how it is "an impossible, ridiculous and morally reprehensible thing to do, but your crime rate would go down. So these far-out, these far-reaching, extensive extrapolations are, I think, tricky." Was it insentitive? Yes. Does this proove he is a racist? No.

Sounds great, did he say all that?
Let's all be clear, he did not say that we should abort black babies. He said, in short, that method would be a bad idea.

He acknowledged , however that it would work to bring the crime rate down. "but your crime rate would go down." He did not feel the need to say that if you aborted all the babies of any other race, it would bring the crime rate down. Why? I don't know, I'm only left to interpret.

To me... and I can only speak for me... To me that is him acknowledging that it is okay to tie the crime rate to Black folks. It is okay to assume that if you phased out Black folks it would, indeed, help the problem of crime, though he is not endorsing helping the problem in that manner.

Let's not get blindsided by how the discussion began, and the method necessary to bring Black people into extinction.

If he had said "...but your crime rate would go down just as it would with aborting babies any other race...", his statement would have been defensible... dare I say reasonable.

You can's say that. Not all children that come from low income, broken homes, off the street end up in jail. There are people that have committed crimes that come from a two parent house-hold and some have been rich kids. Just becasue a boys dad is in jail doesn't mean he will end up there.

Many of our children will be prisoners------------>TRUE
It says that if we are never born then we can not be in prison (or an person never born)------------->TRUE
It does not say that those among us that will be prisoners are children of prisoners.

Ok, let me sum this up. If any racial group in America continues to reproduce, some of them will end up in prison. We have more blacks in prison than our proportional numbers in America.

Please do not state that I typed something that I did not.

IMO it is racist, reckless, lacks respect for a complete race to make such a statement. I've read the posts that seem to infer that statement is limited to mean those other than the "respectable" blacks, but that is not said in the quote. If the thesauraus is correct with the synonym for every -- that means all of us.

Blanket statments of this nature should be unacceptable period. I will not try to rationalize, compare, or assume that he meant anything other than what he said. I am in total agreement that out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks.
