Will this ruling lead to the end of the NCAA? Dartmouth, players ruled to be employees.

This will be a problem for all small schools.
And yes, the Ncaa will definitely be changing.

When I read this:

As such, Dartmouth players, which don't receive athletic scholarships...........

So what about schools that offer scholarships. The NCAA can fix this real quick by limiting rosters to a certain number and requiring the schools to offer only scholarships for those players. Also, if you are recruited by a school and leave you cannot join a team if their roster is full. In short school is free for all student athletes nationwide.

It may sound dumb or stupid but right now the NCAA is treading water trying to figure shit out.

The fix would be to make the scholarships four-year contracts instead of one-year agreements that have to be renewed each year at the discretion of the coach. But coaches probably don't want that because of the power dynamic at play.

I said it a while ago, if you're one of those schools that rely on money games to make the budget... you'd better be looking at other options. And G5 teams will end up being in the same position. Either the top of FBS splits or they'll use their leverage to be able to make the decisions. NCAA doesn't have much power to stop it and they know it. Media money will eventually be an issue too. If you're a sports broadcaster, you basically have to print them a check because you 100% have to have those games on tv. Hell they already get over 50 mil a year per school in the SEC and Big 10 right now. They'll be able to name their price which means even less money for everyone else.

Tv just needs to put their foot down - cbs said to hell with it and let the sec go as it's not worth it cause those guys are greedy and keep on asking for more

Does CBS really have it like that to even try to counter any of the other major sports networks though? We all know the mouse is behind the rest of em except fox and the regional joints.

There should have been a cap put on the salary of coaches....especially for state institutions. In my belief that is what started a lot of this. Also, the NCAA should limit rosters and eliminate the one year scholarship. If a scholarship is given it should be honored for four years. The leadership of the NCAA is being paid by the lobbyist.....

The NCAA can save itself if it accepts the modern reality that the players need to be paid or it's time for American sports to adopt the overseas U-18 pro model, which has produced Luka, Giannis, Wemby, etc.

NCAA cant reverse it now though. If they tried, that's when the SEC & Big 10 for sure will bounce. And just know if they go, the tv money probably goes with em. Even if they end up having to give Vanderbilt vs Miss State a prime time slot when there's nothing else available.
