Will Alcorn ever renew their old rivalry with Howard University?

The Clown Prince of Crime
Playing Howard University has not had a very kind ending for Alcorn. I think currently Alcorn is on a 5-6 Game losing streak vs. Howard.

It would be good and cool if Alcorn could somehow get into the Nations Football Classic vs. Howard.

The Nations Football Classic this past year with Hampton vs. Howard was horrible both Attendence wise and on the Field. It needs some SWAC Flavor mixed into it more.

Start with valley first. Valley needs a rival. Try turning that game into a man-made "rivalry". Be consistent with it and then you'll have your first rival. Then try moving on to find a 2nd rival. If that doesn't work it's just not meant to be...... and that's fine. Some schools just don't have rivals.

FYI: True Rivalries happen on their own. They're not forced.

LOL.. I clowned one of my boys who went to Howard and marched in the band about that.. He said... the school is not funding the band because they didn't have any major classic or FBS opponents last year.. lol He said if they schedule a big game or two, the admins will fund the band. I think that was the dumbest thing I ever heard but he seemed convinced... i guess he didn't really look at their schedule and at the time, I didn't either...

What is this guys deal with Howard?

I just wised this dude would take Brave out of his name. He didn't go to Alcorn.

BH lives in that area so Howard is the big dawg (local) of sorts.

IMHO, Howard doesn't have anything to gain by playing a SWAC school, unless we return to Texas and continue our recruiting efforts :D :D :D :D :D :D :D to lure the best and brightest students away.

I agree with BH but that's ONLY because I live on the EAST coast. it's important to have a brand and to put your team and school in the face of the people is important. I would love for JSU to use our out of conference games to get more exposure along the East Coast and possibly in the Midwest. Home and home games with Morgan State or Howard would be great for SWAC alums in this area... That's also the best way to get alums involved in their alumni associations. I know the issue is making money vs losing money but there are intangibles to moving your team around. The only profitable way to get JSU in this area is to play Maryland, Temple, Penn State, Pitt, etc.. but I ain't about to co-sign JSU on no azz whooping!

Also, for JSU not to play in Chicago AT LEAST once every 5 years is totally asinine!

Damn, TP understands me lol.

I just believe it is important for Southern HBCUs in particular to stay engaged with our Alumni Nationally especially on the East Coast.

Those East Coast Alumni make a lot of money and just every 1-5 years play a game in their Vincinity to maintain ENGAGEMENT.

And play the game against OOC FCS HBCUs. Games in which you can be competitive and win. These SWAC vs. MEAC OOC Games HOME AND HOME are what strengthened the HBCU Brand Nationally.

It is ok to expand outside the South.

What da hell happened to JSU [and a few other SWAC teams] playing in the Chicago Classic [as well as the Circle City Classic]? This used to be a really huge draw in Chitown.:(
