Why marry?

Is it some kind of rule that says if 2 adults are happy in a relationship they have to get married before long?

It shouldn't be. People should feel free to do what they want and when they get ready without feeling any kind of pressure from anyone or anything.

I think there are many reasons people get married.
Some folks really want to share their lives...forever...with that one person.

Reasons vary I'm sure.
I'm still a work in progress when it comes to marriage.

I mean, I've heard women say it makes no sense to them why a man would not want to get married at the time the woman wanted to, that he must not really love her or is keeping his options open. How about he loves you but just wants to marry later than you?

Like hell!!! That ain't my case!

I agree...hell we already take'n care of ourselves...
a great majority of women are holding down the fort...not to put the men down...but I'm saying women are doing what they have to do to make sure their families...whether single, married or divorced...are do'n the dayum thang when it comes to taken care of their own.

I can dig it...personally wouldn't want to marry anyone I have to bring the subject up to or that doesn't or hasn't asked me...

If he's ready...he'll let you know...and you have the option to say yes, no, or maybe later.

If they are not on the same page and she can't wait, I think she should move on or keep her options open. No sense in wasting anybody's time, if two aren't on the same page or don't want the same things in the relationship.

But if everything is good in the relationship, why leave? Why move from a loving relationship to uncertainty?

Exactly!

I was PLENTY fine OK with being single when my husband came along. I was living by myself and just landed my dream job.

Every woman out there ain't running down a man and rushing to get married. My husband works in an office FULL of women! Most of them are successful, hold key positions and not looking for marriage and really not looking to have kids either.

I bet 85% of them chicks bitter and got bad credit.

Obviously everything isn't good in the relationship. Regardless of how small it may seem...marriage is on the mind of one of the people in the relationship. And if it's important, and stays on the mind....it will keep one person unhappy in the relationship.
Which means everything is not good in the relationship.

If the woman is ready and pushing to get married, and the boyfriend isn't ready, that relationship can't be that good in my opinion. They're on two different pages.

What about AFTER he came along? I am not talking about women who have no relationship... I am talking about 6month to 1 year after you meet that man and are still not engaged to him.

As long as you ain't looking their way- they'll be alright! :read:

I never worry about a woman. When the odds are in your favor 30 to 1 you can do what you want. I love being in the position I'm in. Just like Nino Brown I can cancel a chick and buy me another one if I want to.

Maybe she's over-zealous. I don't know. Some women can jump the ship when the relationship is good.
But if she can't wait, and he's still not ready (ASSUMING he's a good catch)--- she can either accept it or move on. If she loses a good man, that's HER loss (in not being patient).

How so? Eliminate sex from the equation and tell me how it is more religious to get married?

You just can eliminate sex from marriage. It's a package deal. Like Crown Royal and the Purple bag... Ike and Tina... Red Beans and Rice... Fried Chicken and Mustard Greens.

Anywho, marrage was given by God and told us to do it and multiply.

dont for get finances, health benifits, and other moral reasons.
