Why are our sisters treated unfairly in relationships compared to other groups?

Yep and the other 60% that are men still have a standard to uphold just like women should. Women try to act like men but fail trying, it's same with weak ass men. The US dollar has trapped us and the only way to shatter the mold is to get back to what matters the most. FAMILY

That's another issue in itself. You have 40% of American women now the bread winner in families. The lines for a traditional lady has been blurred for many. You may have not meant to, but touched on a deep topic (societal shift). Ironically, it was all over the national news yesterday.

How do you get back to family when the roles are all messed up? Like you said, women are trying to be men ... men are essentially women. I'm not sure many of the younger generation even know what manhood and womanhood looks like. :noidea:

It has to start with us Men, our image as being strong black brothers has been tarnished. We have gotten used to women bringing home the bread and meat. Know this though, if your woman is bringing home the bacon dont let it discourage you, that should motivate a man and he should love his lady even more. We let stuff like that bother us though, when she is only holding it down like a real woman should.

How do women try to act like men?

By raising the kid(s)?
By working and bringing home the money?

What are some examples?

Thanks,

Exactly. Try to tear her down for helping out instead of facing his own insecurities and realizing they are BOTH in that together!!

I don't know if women are trying to be men. A lot of what we are witnessing is a result of the long-standing fight by women (for several centuries) to be considered equal - to have equal wages, reproductive rights, maternity leave, vote, own land etc.

As this relates to black women, for so long they've been considered as even lower on the totem pole in terms of value as white women. And they've been fighting to earn that respect and secure their place in society as well.

But, the WaPo story went onto explain that high women earners have increased due to more men being laid off, fired and having difficulty finding work over the last several years. I believe at one point, women entering the workforce outpaced men. There are a lot of factors that contributed to this.

Let me give you a prime example of what I mean:

<object width="420" height="315"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/8DrzCVAJtDw?version=3&amp;hl=en_US&amp;rel=0"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/8DrzCVAJtDw?version=3&amp;hl=en_US&amp;rel=0" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="420" height="315" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true"></embed></object>

We've discussed this video in detail before, but, when we talk about gender roles, here are some things that I noticed:

1. Notice all of the ... males ... standing around silently when these women and kids are acting a fool. Passive. Doing nothing.
2. The female beasts acting out of order, as I said, we've already discussed that.
3. Notice the father of these kids, Lil Punk Ass I'll call him, you never see or hear a peep out of him until his ... girl ... is stiff on the sidewalk. Then he tries to act all hard.

This is what I'm getting at:

If the mall cop had offended or wronged the woman, in my opinion, her man ... if he was a man ... would have asked her to step aside and let him talk to the gentleman personally. No need to get all unruly and set a bad example for the kids. Nor should he allowed his kids to behave the way they did.

Any real woman wouldn't have been loud, unruly, vulgar and disrespectful enough to get tasered in public. I don't think it's necessary to talk much about that.

Lastly, these "men" standing around silently is what most disturbs me. Manhood. I would like to think the men in my grandfather's and my father's generation would have stepped in to protect this woman if she had been mistreated or kept it from escalating if she was out of order. But, these males did nothing.

Why?

I think it's because of the overwhelming number of female head of households in the Black community.

These women have no clue how to truly lead a household and how to conduct themselves. Acting belligerent because that's what they think that's what being a "strong woman" is.

These males ... boys ... grew up in female head of households and couldn't lead because they were ... boys. Not men. When they grow up, they still don't know how to handle themselves in a relationship with women because they are still ... boys. Grown. Reproducing. Boys. Not men. Other than coming in at the last minute and acting like a thug because that's what they think being a man is.

We're confused. Men and women. Confused. Roles mixed up. No clue of what the appropriate way to behave is. And the children grow up in that environment only to repeat what they saw growing up. Female beasts and grown male boys.

And we wonder why our families struggle to survive.

Let me throw up a quick disclaimer:

1. I know that there are some real men that are the result of single parent households.
2. I know that all single mothers aren't unruly.
3. I know that this video is an extreme example.

However, I still feel that it paints a perfect picture of how both males and females don't know their places in families in the Black community. And, while it may be to a lesser extent in another home, it still exists. Men and women not knowing what they heck they are supposed to do to create the best environment for themselves and their children.

I don't think women try to act or be men...women just don't let their gender hinder them in doing that they feel needs to be done at any particular moment, including standing up and defending their kids if they feel they have been wronged.

But I do see the name calling has begun...it will be interesting to see how this thread deteriorates into various tangents from here on...

I'm glad you threw in this disclaimer because my question whenever I see extreme reactions such as this is: Where do you live where this is your norm?

I'm the chick they were talking about in that stupid video the dudes posted, Black women ain't shyt...I'm the one who doesn't have these folks in my life on the regular...you see this once every 5 years with some random stranger in a mall...not the everyday mess...and honestly I REFUSE to live like this on the regular...call me uppity, bourgeois, Booshie, high faluting, country or high brow...just don't call me ghetto and mean it.

Why do you assume that it will automatically deteriorate?

Why can't people simply present their views?

Why can't people have opinions that differ from yours?

Nope those are things that a person should do. When I say act like men I mean the attitude, like aggressiveness, having sex with multiple dudes, talking reckless, throwing her wealth and success in another person's face to make them feel weaker, women dressing like men, fighting etc...

Why do you assume that it will automatically deteriorate? HISTORY of TSPN please review

Why can't people simply present their views? Everyone on here does ad nauseum

Why can't people have opinions that differ from yours? as many times as you have pointed out--including ^^ apparently that is happening already....:xeye:

Hope that helps.

you do know that other than dressing like men, ah...women have been doing the rest for thousands of years...

That video shows an example of how women act like men. Not saying all black women act like this but a lot of em do and its sad. If you don't fall under this category then you shouldn't get offended. Guys deal with women differently so of course if you don't share those characteristics then you wont agree.

Absolutely false.

Other than a few powerful women who may have flaunted their power - Cleopatra and such - women in general have not been behaving that way for thousands of years.

I'll ask again, where are you living that these extreme women are a even a majority? And moreso, why do you stay? Not trying to be funny...I just don't get it. Ain't no way I could cohabitate with those actions--men or women-- on a daily. Ain't no way in hell...

you just gave examples and still calling it false...:smh: That would not be the definition of false...

Come on, CT.

You know good and well there are many women - heads of households or not - who are quick to cuss a muthafugga out over the littlest thing. And passive men who do nothing until it's time for sex or time to be a thug. It's very common.

I live in Mississippi but have seen them all over the United States in person and/or video lol. Staying where? Who says I deal with those types of women? What I have learned is this, you cant run from em. They are all around you, people act different when they get in relationships. You should know that....
