Why Are Most Coaches So Negative Toward Fans?

It appears when fans ask questions about the game, the standard answer is very negative. Coaches will say fans don't understand the game. They treat fans like they have never seen a game or fans have no idea or concept of what the defense or offense is doing. In my opinion many fans who have attended games for years don't just wait for the team to score, but they seem to be following the logic of the game they are watching. Do coaches live in their own world and think fans are like their players. You do what I tell you or you will not play. I will kick you off the team if you question my play calling. I believe there are some serious fans and former players who understand the game, but still get blasted if they voice their opinion.

I talked to a Power 5 defensive coordinator about something similar. He said he wants to educate the public and the media, but a lot of them, he said, come from a place of ignorance and lack nuance. They don't do research or do their homework, he said.

Educate the public and the media, but I believe fans of the game appreciate games that are well played and lost; rather than seeing what appear to be bad play calling. Such as starting the 2nd half with the same plays you started the game with and never make any adjustments. They call it sticking to the game plan and you are 20 points behind. Dropped passes, fumbles and a few other things fans may not like in losing, but they understand why the loss occurred.

Fans and the media only criticize the outcomes. It's easier to do that. That's why. We don't have all the information.

Same problem going on in Normal. 3 years of suspect offensive production, only 1 win against a team that finished with a winning record (2014 MCC), no QB development, and yearly staff purges. The players play hard because they have pride and see a shot at the NFL is attainable. But when fans ask why the coach plays musical chairs with his QBs or gets outcoached against halfway decent teams (2016 Texas Southern), hostility prevails.

Full disclosure, I don't know if me and MD are referring to the same coach lol

Cause Spady is tired of you, Plow, and Cee questioning his every move and why he chose to use the 2 shooter pistol formation.
 
Just an observation about coaching in general.

Most fans who are said to be critical of the outcomes maybe issues for some coaches.

Those should be your top 5 candidates
 



Its part Ego and part of reading too many damn message boards. Coaches Respect knowledgeable fans who actually come from a place of Grown Up Land. No name calling or personal attacks. Most fans are not privy to Everyday operations nor do they ever touch a white board with a marker.


I never forget when spady was at gsu. I emailed him about a loss. He emailed me back and asked me to come to the fieldhouse to talk about the offense. Most coaches would not even do that. I go there and meet him. He says why the hostility. I told him its not personal. He then goes to the whiteboard and draws me a play to illustrate the speed of a p5 team we played. He asked me a question and i answered it on the white board. After that we would always talk at most practices. Same with Broadway. Coaches Respect fans who are Loyal to the team and has some knowledge of the game. Message Board Machete3578 will always get virtual face palmed by coaches. Doug was the same way too. They Respect fans who show up to All the games and also some practices to actually see who stinks in practice and why they not playing.

He need to dog yall out. Yall coming at the man like yall know football or something. Yall a "Basketball" school. Alot of yall don't know what yall watching anyway. Half the fan base goes to TnSt homecoming and the other half only shows up for the Classic to show off their new hairstyles and outfits. Yall should bow down and kiss that man's feet. Thank God that someone like him wanted to come there and coach.

Basically said they don't do anything for the fans, refused to address the questions around the QB decisions and kept justifying losing strategies. Same old sob story bullschitt.

An experienced HC could come in here and whoop ass with the resources he has. His players have a full offseason workout program, program has full scholarships, he has a strength and conditioning coach that worked under the strength staff at Alabama, and he has a 3-star QB that had multiple D1 offers and a big arm. Plus 2 all-conference caliber RBs. And a much improved defense...#1 in total defense, yet we lose games because he won't give up control of that BS offense.

Dude might be a good person but 4 years of excuses and blaming everything but himself for bad on-field decisions shows he's not mature enough to be a head coach at this level. NOW people see why there's been so much staff turnover. If we're dumb enough to not move on, he's likely going to have to go through a THIRD defensive staff.

it's time for AAMU to move on the only thing that I see saving SPADY is the making it to the SCG especially since he lost the Classic starting the wrong QB
