Who will blink first?

I would vote gRAMBLINg, but since sU have already cut a lot of their sports, then they are half way there already.

When I was talking about leader schools, I was talking about leader of the bad schools. It wouldnt help for Valley/AAMU to go D2 first...folks will think thats where they belong anyway. We need Grambling to go D2 "fust." If Grambling goes, PV will go. If PV goes, TxSU will go. If TxSU goes PB will go. If PB goes, AAMU then ASU the Alcorn and Valley. Finally SU will reluctantly go where they belong.

At least the conversation has started with the powers that be. The SWAC doesnt belong in FCS, face it.

SWAC schools dont remotley need to be thinking about FBS. You need to be thinking about D2....SERIOUSLY. And I dont want to hear nothing about what SWAC fans will think. We all know 90% of our fans could care less about the level of competition or the difference between D1 and D2. All our fans want to know is if the other school has a band that humps the ground. Thats what we come to see.

GR...Please inform me, what are the pros/cons of moving down to Division 2 when Division 2 schools have been/in the process of making plans for moving into D-I.

A move to D-2 means a decrease in sports needed to sponsor and a reduction of scholarships, which is a cost savings. I assume you'll say that scheduling would be easier since the SIAC/CIAA schools would be there.
Now, with a perceived better chance of competing as D-2 ... what are the downsides? Decreased exposure? Less sponsors than now? What television deal could we get that's viable (I know, several of us don't think the current TV deal is viable now)?

According to NCAA Standards JSU would benefit more by going D2. All the players with APR issues transfering from other schools would be able to play immediatel y. Since these players would not be able to transfer to the schools who have set the APR standards for years (AAMU), JSU could be a powerhouse in Division 2 and if that fails they can try DIII.

It is possible to have a great halftime show and still have dignity.
You have been subjugated to this foolishness so long until you think its normal.

Ive never seen TennSt perform this minstrel show, yet their halftime show is always entertaining

But that aint what this is about. Going D2...Which SWAC School will do it first?
I haven't watched a complete halftime performance in years. That's restroom break and concession stand time. I ask due to fans and $$$ generated from bands at the games which make some schools budget which in a round about way, keeps them in D1.

I see you mentioned every school but jsu. When would jsu drop down? Before or after the other mississippi schools. And why do you think jsu doesn't need to drop down? Are y'all still comtemplating FCS independents????

^^^WEAK attempt at SMACK!

Had to spice it up and make an official statement on the Sportsboard. As you know, your claim to Fame was in NAIA. Just for the record, a student athlete has to maintain his credit hours to be eligible to play in D1, but the same standards does not apply to D2. Based on GR thread who will be the first to go to D2 if we applied the standards.

In reality, Bama State needs to go "fust"............. "fust" to FBS. NOT JSU.

I said going d2 was a bad idea in this very thread.
I agree. I think we (conference schools) need to take this APR stuff more seriously. IMO, the APR was geared to eliminate some of the things the Big 5 were doing and since, it has snagged the less financially equipped (and in SU's case, lazy as well) schools in the net.

For instance, Godfrey (bball player leaving SU) had academic issues before attending SU. And since we have APR problems, we need to let them go on......even though they are talented.

I be glad when all of our schools are beyond this so D2 won't be an option.

You did, and I agree. The LAST thing we need to do now is regress and go down. This current wave of D-I realignment is far from over, and could prove beneficial to a group of our schools if we have the right plan(s) of action in place. It's probably easier for eight to 10 of our schools to move up as a conference, negotiate some bowl-tie ins and TV deals. If the Power 5 all move not to play down, then moving up still gives us an opportunity to get some additional game revenues in.

Also, people act like the level of play in all of FCS is excellent across the board. Mane those games are on par with SWAC games for the most part. You guys (or some of you) have little to no love for the home product. I've seen it with my own eyes. FCS as a whole is just like the rest of the SWAC. They all hate their own officiating, some teams suck and some teams are good.

You do realize you just described SUs athletic department right? You have already decreased your scholarship and programs. You can't comply with D1 academic standards, so why not go D2? Sponsors won't decrease....all they want to know is how many people are attending the games....going D2 is irrelevant to them. AND what TV deal do we have now.

The SWAC would come out so much better if they decide to do the right thing. At least we're on the right track now

You do realize that they are about to close BamaState down right?
Honestly, I didn't. On the outside looking in, with the new football stadium, and on campus baseball now, I thought they may move up soon.

Seriously, has JSU really considered moving up? Being a FCS independent would be useless.

Honestly, I didn't.
94,
That's just GR being GR. :retard:
Even though this topic is posted in the sports board, it's nothing more than his attempt at smack. Note how he stated that 9 schools should go D2. Any guess which one he didn't include.

same ole same ole......:sleeping::sleeping:

In the 662 said it best.
Look at who started the thread and you knew the other little foot soldiers would fall in line.

Nothing more than the usual smack thread centered around APR dressed in "what's best for the conference" clothing.
:tup::tup:

We exceed D1 standards on the number of sports we need to have. We also provide the full complement of scholarships in our sports.
