who is the best director in the current swac!!!

Did Haymer and the Human Jukebox make it back safely from Memphis?

I mean, with all of the new partnerships, new sponsorships, special appearances and national notoriety Mr. Haymer and the Southern University Marching Band from Jaguarland have garnered this year alone, when do they sleep?

I realley love what Haymer is doing with the Jukebox...he is awesome....but he can be toooooo competitive sometimes....lol. Taylor is awesome, excellent arranger, a legend, old school, but respects new school also...he is a very classey, discipline & strict director. But I think Taylor gonna quit being nice to SU in the future....lol.

Key word is disciplined, something Taylor is excellent at. Haymer will learn discipline in due time but in the meantime, he'll continue to be more style than substance. That is all.

Seems like no one else knows this but you. If you're so known and respected, where's the invite from the Hall of Fame committee?:noidea:

Huh? You are so wrapped up about that NCAA HOF stuff. Maybe Doc Greggs told them something they didn't like or told him he wanted his own wing. LOL. The bottom line is SU band is legendary and has a deeper and richer history than any other HBCU band not named FAMU and Grambling. Those are the only 2 bands who have had distinction even before the black man took over SU. The places the Juke has performed speaks way more volume than some NCAA HOF selection. You don't see Gram and FAMU harping on it. Because they have done so many performances world wide that the HOF is just another award. People in the band community know this. The key is can your HOF band continue to live up to what got them there. One thing about SU. It has been consistently good since 1969. No where near the drop off as others has experienced or trying to live on prior accolades. They are still getting them. That's when you know you are doing to right stuff.

And to be honest JR they are exaggerating about the NCAA deal. The whole deal was basically a panel 2003 and they asked the percussion sections to tape a video. There was no enshrinement.....They have had displays of multiple bands including SU in the Hall of Champions. Don't believe me then call Kelly Dodds one of the directors of the facility,

Back to this thread......If you have to ask this question then you already know the answer.

Also congrats to Mr. Lawrence Jackson. He will be a honoree at the Honda BOTB's. That makes 2 Former SU band directors that have been honored. How many jsu got? I'm just asking for a friend.

So you're trying to downplay the Hall of Champions merely because su's not a member?! Now you're scraping the bottom of the barrel in lies.:smh:

What does that mean in the whole scheme of things? Nothing. Dr. Jackson wasn't too much to write home about. Now Greggs is a different story.

jsu is not a member. They had a band showcase in 2003 and y'all were one of 3 schools asked to record a percussion video. There are no bands enshrined in the NCAA hall of fame..... Get your facts straight.

Would you like Kelly Dodds number? I'm sure one of the director of the hall of champions can give you the facts :emlaugh:

What the heck does the HOF have to do with the title of this thread? :retard:

You need to ask yourself that same question! :read:

If you say so, dude!

It's soooooooooooooo obvious that the fans of a certain band/school are #STILLALLUPINTHEIRFEELINGS about #2014LOSSTOBER24-25.

Oh well, better luck next year!

The only style being displayed is your ball-wash'n skills. Get off of Haymer, bruh.

Tell u the truth.....who care about all that past stuff....who did this & who did what & who did what to who & who got who. That's all in good but.... I'm talking about band director capabilities. One thing I admire about Taylor he can out write & out drill... anyone on SU staff. But he has arrangers & let them do they job. Truth is Doc Gregg's didn't completely create the drills ...but he did put flare & style to it. Michigan state & others were doing it in 1969 also....but Doc. Gregg's did it best!!! Haymer just continuing the tradition & putting more flare in it. Truth is Taylor is a drill writer & Harold Haugthon is the best....I say haughton was close wit Doc Gregg's on drills.

I will say this it seems what kept SU good so long they had a outstanding system in place & Doc Greggs stayed so long.....& he was a genius!!!! Jsu went thru a lot of directors....but for them to do that & still fairly keep tradition intact & outstanding program says a lot also.

I've always admired SU for the drills. They tops on that. JSU has came close...but never have straight out designed SU in drill design. But there have been times JSU drilled cleaner. In the 70's early 80s Houghton was on it drill wise. Taylor is got them cleaner , sounding better & he has tried a new drill & there will be more. Haymer gonna have the Jukes on point, he don't play ....all I can say is.....when will the other swac bands catch up wit these two directors. SU & JSU just run over everyone... it seems. Alabama state has potential to be a powerhouse...just something ain't right yet.

Please. Keep using that excuse if that helps ease your pain of having a wet-behind-the-ears director whose only beginning to embarass the once good name of su. It's only going to get worse. Mark those words down.
