I completely understand. By this time you can probably figure out that I don't care much for dance auxiliaries (Jaycettes, Dancing Dolls, 14K, etc)or dancing DM troupes (Fab5, Fantastic4, etc) doing their rump shakin' and grindin'. If that's the kind of dancing you want, Tampa is famous for it's strip clubs. There are plenty of poles to be wrapped around and there is a lot of money to be made. If you want to dance with artistry (jazz, ballet, modern, etc) and great choreography, I would have no problem with the band standing for such a feature. Of course, that leads me to my other dance point: bands that dance should be able to execute the dance like a dance auxiliary would. Otherwise, stick to making the music.
Someone asked in another thread whether Jaycettes were offered scholarships, citing the amount of time that is devoted to rehearsals, preparation, and performance. I don't know the answer but it seems like you would want to offer dance scholarships to dance majors. In so doing I would expect that dance expertise to be brought to the field in the dance auxiliary.
Yes, I realize that I am in a gross minority in these positions. These are among the reasons I will never be the BD of the Sonic Boom of the South.
