When does Grambling St. schedule comes out?

I would have rather have seen Grambling scheduled an in-state D3 school like Louisiana College (LC) instead of VUL. Not only they are an in-state school, LC is just an hour and thirty minutes drive from Grambling with the potentials of bringing MORE FANS than VUL, which is approximately 900 miles away. Also, LC has been quietly adding sports programs as if they are planning to move up in classification.

I thought your pres said that financial exigency is a reality? I thought your univ president suspended (temporarily) the AD search amid athl budget woes?

So it stands to reason that GSU has a plethora of $$$$$ to buy a club team out of a contract. lol

That was when The President was bracing cuts but that has since passed. There were no cuts to Higher Ed. Keep up.

Yall talking now but the rule came into play June 2015 when teams began the 2015 football season could have dropped the lower division teams off the schedule and the crazy thing you all have real AD's unlike Grambling at this present time lol. A competent AD would never schedule club teams if they do, they are lazy. We lack an AD period, i would rather have an open date than play VU-L or The University of Faths etc. If those rules weren't put into place, the main one's talking school wold be playing University of Faith and VUL again lol.

Naw man. I cannot keep up w/ what's occurring over there. I have a hard time keeping up w/ what occurs on PVAMU's campus, among others I'm deeply interested in :) .

It just seems a little odd that a school that is allegedly athletically and academically broke, by recent accounts, miraculously has ends to start paying off entities that are under contract so they don't appear on their campus in the near future for a contest.

Are you sure? Another emotion-driven post....

Prairie View vs. Rice was scheduled in April 2015
Prairie View vs. Texas A&M was scheduled October 2015.

Prior to the University of Faith game last season take a look at our OOC opponents...

Not emotional at all, just stating what i believe. I'm not getting into a pissing match about a schedule. Grambling vs Arizona was schedule prior to 2015, We played Cookman and University of Cal in 2015 we actually supposed to played University of Colorado the day we played yall but things happened. Again i say when you have an incompetent person in the AD position they don't know what the hell they are doing, we should never play club teams especially not with our legacy at Grambling which is why our alumni or pissed. I don't pay attention to PV to know who they have played, i just knew yall played University of Faith last year because someone brought it up in one of the posts. Many are alumni are pushing the issue to drop VUL.

Grambling is not broke, but the school and athletic budget has shrunk but not broke. Difference. It's not like anyone in the SWAC has fat pockets, many are playing money games. Yes some budgets are larger than others but lets not get blind lmao. I'm done, hopefully the new AD we are about to hire gets things right.

Feel you. Broke is too strong a word. I should've used "not doing so well." lol I been done said that PVAMU is broke is hell, hence our need to re-address our travel budgets for ALL sports as well as future conference alignment. We pass by 10+ FCS schools to go a certain distance to play another FCS school in EST lol. Something is horribly wrong w/ that picture.

LOL!!! Y'all wild!!! I'm sure Texas has taken a hit too in their 'Earl' monies due to the low fuel prices.

IMO, cuts or no cuts, since the Louisiana Constitution doesn't protect its schools from drastic budget cuts, Louisiana schools need to be on top of their game when it comes to their finances. Thank God Louisiana has finally elected a governor who has committed to increasing funding for higher education.

Houston added 156,000 residents last month and there's no shortage of new communities 30 miles from PV south or east....more rooftops means more taxes and more funding

The article in the paper earlier said that plenty of teams called for a game but they wanted Grambling to travel. Fobbs said they wanted to start the season at home since they really don't get to do it very often. I would rather go down the road and see Southern and Ulm play and hope Southern upsets them rather than see us blow out a team like the one we are playing and get nothing from it but a blowout and nothing really proven.

Can we get an update on the secession??? Thanks for working on making the United States great again!!!

It shouldn't cost much to buy them out. VUL gets about 10K max for guarantee games. I'm willing to bet Shaw asked for $50K+.

I see Chowan also has an open date Labor day weekend.

Fuck all this...our administration did some monkey shit!!!! The coaches wanted an FCS school in either Texas, Louisiana, or Arkansas. They were pushing for one of the schools since last season. Our administration SUCKS!!!!

I will be at the game but damn it pisses me off.

The coaches were pushing to open the season with FCS program. Fuck out administration for this one.

I knew that a D2 school would ask for that much so I know buying out VUL shouldn't cost that much.

Go ahead and take that hit and put Shaw (or Chowan) on the schedule (I'd prefer the HBCU)

Broderick Fobbs has encountered plenty of "never" situations during the past three years as Grambling's football coach.

The latest comes in the form of Grambling's 2016 schedule, which was finalized last week, via back-to-back open dates in October and no bye week before the annual Bayou Classic against Southern in November.

"It is interesting. I think it was something that was done by the conference because normally we have an open week prior to the Bayou Classic. It's going to be a challenge for us to really develop and get better," Fobbs told The News-Star on Monday.

Not sure If I would blame Administration for this !!!

Chowan is in the CIAA so it is still kinda like playing an HBCU, except the team probably looks different. LOL

I would still blame the administration because the article said "Grambling RECEIVED calls...." The question remains "what did the Administration pursue."
