Alcorn and JSU has an intense rivalry. As far as competition back in the days when McNair was at the Corn, the classic was something to look forward to. Now the CCC is lopsided band and football. When SU came to Jsu in 93 that was a war band and football. If I had to pick a time the su-Jsu game became serious was in 99 when they beat us twice in football. We did come to Baton Rouge in 90 and ranned Southern up out of there. Band was on another level back then....
Band was on another level back? Please explain why.....
Sound wise in the stands there are some years in the late 90's that wasn't no joke even to old school at SU.. Now I know some old school got it in their heads already, "aww they came after us, anin't no way they sounded better than our year..."
That's a lie...95,96, 97, 99.....and some other years would have went to war with alot of our old school bands...
The big difference is YOU all had directors back then that new each other....and since they were hype, you all of course feed off of their hypness.....
You must realize being at SU, in the mid 90's to now....all of DOC friends are pretty much dead.....So he don't wanna go to war with none of these other bands....but that don't stop us from being ready as a band. Now it do stop creativity, because every time we came up with some creative stuff DOC was there to shot it down.....DOC wanted to be comfortable....sheed he no one to prove himself to.....So that in turn effected the band. We still did what we had to do, but if the head man wasn't feeling a battle, there wasn't going to be a battle.
Only way it will chance is when band directors actually start talking to each others again, and building some kind of bond, then the isht talking will start again between the BD's and the rest will follow from there....
I mean we can talk all the isht we want to on here, but the band members ain'ty about to make DOC stay no where he don't want to stay....
