Is your state the smartest? Research firm Morgan Quitno evaluated state public school systems to determine the best school systems.

States were graded based on positive attributes, such as per-pupil expenditures, public high school graduation rates, average class size, student reading and math proficiency, pupil-teacher ratios and teacher salaries.

States received negative points for things like drop-out rates and physical violence.

I am not totally surprised. Although as a product of the Georgia public school system, I should say (in using a few wordss) that there are school systems in the state that are worth a lot. Not enough legislators believe in spending the needed money in places where a lot of Black kids live. But as a third generation product of a small town high school in Georgia I would not trade most of my experiences there for anything in the world.
