What's the big deal about Evolution vs Creationism?

coldsweat said:
Exactly! Some of these scientists really try to sound so smart that the eventually start to sound and look so dumb! :retard:

I can't stand it when scientists (particular those who have been brainwashed) attempt to neglect GODS presence and role in the creation of us ALL! :shame: They get caught up in that politically correct terminology that they eventually start believing it and therefore, allowing the light of knowledge and creativity God instilled in them to dim!

My dad used to tell me: " :lecture: Son, God created man, he raised the devil, he told man to write the Bible, and he's gonna tell his angels to help destroy the Earth. Why worry yourself about things he already knew would happen? It's all in his genuis plan! ;)

That quote from your Dad is on point!

:D

Embracing the Big Bang theory is not terribly far-fetched, once you get past the "billions and billions" (thank you, Carl Sagan) of years. God spoke and
BANG!!!
it happend.

How far-fetched would it be? And I don't think its the fact of embracing the Big Bang but how you do it! :)

I like what Dacontinent said. :) That's the only Big Bang Theory I believe in!

God said "Let there be light".....BANG! it happened.
God said "Let Us make man".....BANG! it happened.

Monkeys.... :smh: :(

Interesting. IMHO, science isn't to blame for lack of belief in creationism. Science seeks to find answers, cures, progress, etc. Science isn't at odds with religion. It's even more interesting that scientists were burned at the stake for the notion of the world and the sun NOT being the center of universe.

Very interesting! I was wondering when someone would bring up that point! It's amazing how forces within this world have consumed so many minds to only think narrow and small! :shame:

Science & Relgion both have played some huge roles in many of the problems that society has today! But I guess when you think about it...that's the grand scheme of things---the blueprint for life per say!

So what are your thoughts about the Races of Man?

Now, as with the Races of Man, I am firmly convinced (and will never be convinced otherwise) that any scientific knowledge with regards to race (and to a much much lesser extent, the human genome) cannot be overwhelmingly aimed at progress or any positivie that science seeks to bring about if it is conducted by overwhelmingly European scientists. But, that some scientists can of course disseminate between personal bias and the truth. Arabs and Muslim Africans used a form of scientific method WELLLLLL before Europeans did without mention or any SLIGHT lean towards race.

*legal disclaimer: There's nothing wrong with the Races of Man. I'm just using it as an example. Now the BELL CURVE IS ANOTHER STORY....

I usually don't post in this forum but I had to take a crack at it when I saw this thread! Either way, I'm glad this discussion has evoked some very thought provoking comments and questions. So to add to the numerous list of intelligent questions and statements, I'll ask this question.

God created the universe and HE also created man....this we already know! However, when and how did the races of man develop? Did they evolve from conditions of their climate, regions, environment, etc, thus making some of man white, dark-skinned, fair, slant eyed, blue eyes? And if in fact they did evolve, why is it so impossible to believe other scientifc explanations such as evolution?

Da Continent...care to elaborate? :lecture:

Well, a number of scientists have given good support for the adaptation of the races of the conditions. As I recall the study (some 20+ years ago) they chose to use the work adaptation instead of evolution because their findings suggested that the changes occurred in only slightly more than 3 generations. That's the scientists position. They did not bother to ask me.

Its not impossible to believe evolution as a scientific explanation. It just requires more faith than most of us have a real measure for.

I think the races can be attributed to environment, climate and region. Historically people all around the world that live near or at the equator have dark skin. Even the Caucasian from Southern Europe (Italy, Spain, Greece) has a darker complexion that his cousin from the Scandinavian Region of Europe.

Well, my old man's theory is that Adam was about the color of a really dark Sudanese (like clay) and Eve was Caucasian persuasion (similar to the bone she was crafted from). Their offspring were black (Abel) and white (Cain). The second son was a somewhere around the color of red clay. From these you add in environment, diet, and garb (clothes, what you wear, etc.) and you get your pigment changes. :rolly:

True, true, true!! So lemme see.....man was able to adapt per say to his surrounding conditions thus allowing him to basically evolve! Because if he couldn't adapt, he would cease to exist... Right!

Yep.

Look at native East Indians or Sub-Saharan Africans. They don't have a lot of body hair. Same with the people of southeast Asia. Now look at the Northern European or Eskimo. Hairy people. I feel safe in saying that the climate has something to do with this.

The same can be said for the animal kingdom.

Hmnnn.....interesting! So what about the theory referring to Noah and his 3 sons which is referenced to in the Old Testament?

So evolution is in fact the accurate terminology then! Right? So basically the theory on evolution is not too far-fetched? Man couldn't be in the same image/form as what we perceive him to be now!

So what explains the reasoning behind a specific race granted with the blessing of a word entitled "melanin?

Evolution literally means change. Of course man has the ability to change and adapt to his environment. Darwinian theory, however, insists on the adoption of self-transmutation - and that is where the thing falls apart.

There has never been any evidence produced to reasonably suggest that man has been in any form different from what we see now.

For the record I do support the scientific foundation of environmental adaptation accounting for the races. It jives with the story of Noah's three sons and the geographical directions that their generations took afterward.

23 years ago at JSU, English 206 was The Literature of Science taught by Dr. Ancilla Coleman. We spent 4 weeks talking about Greek mythology and 14 weeks on The Origin of Species. Riveting stuff. I think that she and I were the only 2 people who stayed awake in the class because we argued about this stuff every day. Our debates ended the day when, in discussing the tangent that we were on, she suggested there was scientific evidence the place where Israel crossed the Red Sea was only 4 inches deep. I argued back that the entire Egyptian army - soldiers, chariots, and horses - drowned in the same place. She had no response.

Yes, these discussions can get that silly.

  I wonder why she had no response! :shame:  It's sad that when faced with the truth, how some people still duck their heads in denial! :shame:

I believe the story about Noah and his 3 sons is actually right on point considering the geographical regions that each one eventually resided in. Take into consideration, thousands of years of climate effect, food consumption and other generation variables and there you have it!
