What's the big deal about Evolution vs Creationism?

Bartram

Can someone help me out here? (don't answer that. :D ) You know what really kills me is how creationism has been glossed into the phrase "intelligent design",,,,,,,,,, ENOUGH ALREADY with the wordsmithing!!!!!! "Intelligent design"??? has marketing overtaken religion?? what's wrong with creationism???

Ok folks,, here's the explanation that should satisfy everybody:

When the bible says God created man from this and that,,, HE DID!!! Man was created through evolution (first an ameba, then a cell, then an organism, then an amphibian or reptile or whatever, then a mammal, then an ape, homosapian or whatever, then a human.) which God orchestrated!!! WHAT'S SO FnCKING HARD ABOUT THAT??!!!!

When the bible says God created the world in 6 days and rested on the 7th (bible hacks help me out here,,) HE DID!!!! It just so happens that "6 days" was a few million years and the 7th was maybe one million!!! WHAT'S SO HARD ABOUT THAT??!!!

I think many things in the bible were meant as fables/allegory/hyperbole to get a point across to future readers. the bottom line is the point the bible is trying to get across is true no matter what scientist theorize and prove; there still has to be a beginning to kick all that stuff off which is where the bible/God comes in!!!!! Why is this so hard for everybody to agree on??!!!

sincerely, perhaps this thread should be moved to the bible/church/religious(?) forum?

You've got professors and politicians who can't disseminate religion and science and still be religious. And you've got professors and politicians who have an axe to grind against religion because they can't disseminate science from religion and still be well read. I don't see anything wrong with teaching evolution since "creationism" (who tha heyall came up with THAT coinage  ) is taught religiously.

Bartram,

Your post shows why folks can't agree. You've taken Genesis ch. 1 and filled in what you think are 'blanks' in the scriptures.

God said let 'us' make man in 'our' image. Let him have dominion over the creatures of the earth, including monkeys. Man and monkey were created separate. In fact, God brought monkey to man so that man can name it monkey, like the other animals.

The only one brought to man that was like him was woman.

This info is in scripure. When you add, assume, fill in blanks, you'll have people a confused world. When you say, "this is what God said, BUT this os what he really meant,"...you'll confuse people.

That's why people think we came from monkeys, rather than just naming them. We got it twisted. Scientist are soooo smart, that they prove themselves foolish sometimes.

Anyways, we'll check out other responses...

I think your reply shows the exact same thing that you say my post shows. What does it matter if people think they are from monkeys or instantly from mud and leaves, or science proves it or not or whatever if we believe and live a perscribed life? I don't see the big deal between what the bible says and what science comes up with. Seems to me it all boils down to a silly peeing contest between extremes of ideologies that make for all kinds of law suites and controversies in the modern world. Anyway like you say, just something thrown out for other responses.

I don't see the big deal between what the bible says and what science comes up with.
Here's the big deal = Do you choose to follow/accept/believe God's Word, or man's word? (keeping in mind that God MADE man.)

1) God said, "Adam came from US, and Eve came from Adam."
2) Some men say, "Adam came from ..space...organisms..monkeys...etc"

Why would anyone think that the creation (man) has some how become smarter than the Creator (God)? That's impossible. Maybe it's only a big deal to me. Carry on...

Well, let's look at what the Bible says.

Gen 1:26-27 (KJV)
26 And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.
27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.

So...the image of God would be that of a monkey. Is there a big difference between man and monkey? Yeah.

Gen 2:7 KJV

7 And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.

Restatement of the creation of the male of the human (spirit in dirt) species. No depiction of oozing or metamorphosis.

Gen 2:18-23 KJV

18 And the LORD God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him.
19 And out of the ground the LORD God formed every beast of the field, and every fowl of the air; and brought them unto Adam to see what he would call them: and whatsoever Adam called every living creature, that was the name thereof.
20 And Adam gave names to all cattle, and to the fowl of the air, and to every beast of the field; but for Adam there was not found an help meet for him.
21 And the LORD God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam and he slept: and he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh instead thereof;
22 And the rib, which the LORD God had taken from man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man.
23 And Adam said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man.

Hmm...woman did not come from dirt nor ooze. She was formed through an operation and taken out of him. Hence, wo-man. To say the least, taking an evolutionary view will necessitate changing the term for the female of the human species.

Now, with just this little bit, what does that tell the believer about the nature of humans and how it differs from that of animals? What does it tell us about the nature and character of God? What does that tell us about the character of mankind?

Are the answers to any of those questions big deals?

i don't play with GOD,

God said it and i believe it and receive it. the bible is not a biology book. these educated fools are going to bust hell wide open. :lecture:

Sciencetist have realized that there are somethings in nature that cant be explained by their conventional methods. I was watching the tube one night and they were discussing this. The sciencetist that are starting to convert to "Creationism" are saying that there are some things that they have uncover that are too complex to be an act of nature alone.

Creationism is just a way for sciencetist to save face and not to admit what they know. There is an Alpha and Omega out there, and the more they dig and probe the more they began to realize it.

 Good points! I've been reading a couple of books as it pertains to these subjects as well and its quite interesting the points that both "Bartram" and "Da Continent" provided.

From one perspective, I can understand where Bartram is coming from and on the other hand, my belief in Christ and GOD holds more ground because of the complexity of life itself.....meaning that their are still things we, humans have yet begun to uncover or understand because it wasn't meant for us to do so! If we were designed and created to know this, it would defeat the entire purpose for having GOD!

DO I believe in GOD......Yes, most definitely.

DO I believe that God created man from the dust, and woman from the rib of man......YES!

DO I believe in the Big Bang Theory.....Yes!

Contrary to what scientists and religious leaders think or say...this topic is actually very simple. God and Science exist in the same dimensions because GOD created all of us and the world. I'll discuss my views as it prertains to all of this at a later day once I see how this discussion turns!

Read Bartram's 1st quote to begin this thread, and then'll you see why I posted that! It's all very simple.

Why is it that people just can't think of (Religion/God, Science) in the same sense? It's as if people are in way forced to either say God or Science when they're actually both the same thing! :|

If you understand what the Bible says, than all you have to do is apply that to what most scientists have a hard time understanding and proving!

What's there to be confused about?

Just wondering how one can believe in GOD's creation of the universe and also believe in the Big Bang Theory?

The Big Bang Theory is the dominant scientific theory about the origin of the universe. According to the big bang, the universe was created sometime between 10 billion and 20 billion years ago from a cosmic explosion that hurled matter and in all directions.

So how would that interfer with what the Bible says in that GOD created the universe! They're the same thing actually but people (scientists and religous leaders) have gotten so caught up in attempting to split up the reasoning per say that they have made the issue harder to understand that what it acutally is---hence your confusion on why I said that I belive in God but also in the Big Bang Theory!

With the scientists proposal that there was a 'bang' which hurled matter everywhere is so unreal to me.

I've always believed that these heavenly bodies were set by GOD himself. Key word being set(put/placed).

But to each his/her own. :)

GEN 1:1 In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.

GEN 1:2 And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.

GEN 1:3 And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.

GEN 1:4 And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness.

GEN 1:5 And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day.

GEN 1:14 And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years:

GEN 1:15 And let them be for lights in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth: and it was so.

GEN 1:16 And God made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night: he made the stars also.

GEN 1:17 And God set them in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth,

GEN 1:18 And to rule over the day and over the night, and to divide the light from the darkness: and God saw that it was good.

Good quotes! But you forgot to mention the quote about God creating the Heavens! And since he created the Heavens, how was it done? Was it done by the snap of his fingers, or was it done by setting things in place for a cosmic explosion!

Science attempts to answer the hows/what/when/where questions about life and everything within it, where as, Religion focuses more soley on faith and what has been written in the Bible! What's not being said or taught mainstream, it that they're merely the same thing in a sense just with different wording and terminology!

Now don't get me wrong, some scientists choose and have limited the discussion of God and the Creation, because they have been brainwashed to a point where the simple things of life have become so complex to them to comprehend! But the key to it all is that Science can't exist without GOD!

You scared me there for a minute, bruh....

Scientists need to Let Go and Let GOD! :D

Exactly! Some of these scientists really try to sound so smart that the eventually start to sound and look so dumb! :retard:

I can't stand it when scientists (particular those who have been brainwashed) attempt to neglect GODS presence and role in the creation of us ALL! :shame: They get caught up in that politically correct terminology that they eventually start believing it and therefore, allowing the light of knowledge and creativity God instilled in them to dim!

My dad used to tell me: " :lecture: Son, God created man, he raised the devil, he told man to write the Bible, and he's gonna tell his angels to help destroy the Earth. Why worry yourself about things he already knew would happen? It's all in his genuis plan! ;)
