What were you doing 10 years ago today when that historic moment occurred?

I think we were at Rice University's stadium because I believe that was where TSU was playing Howard. I remember the announcer saying the score and repeating himself. Afterwards the whole crowd began chanting "PV won a football game."

It was Alcorn. It was a sloppy, rainy day, and both bands were there, but neither performed. That was 1999.

Hursh your mouth, girl!!! :D These folks KNOW what they are talking about. PV's first win was against Langston University in '98.

They won their first SWAC game in 2000 when they beat Alcorn. They beat Langston in '98 to officially end the losing streak. When they beat Alcorn in 2000, they ended their SWAC losing streak.

BTW, don't have a fit about that "hursh girl" comment. It's all love sweetheart.

Oh yea, just my kinda guy set me straight then.:swink:

I don't remember wth I was doing that day in 98. I wanna say I was at some kind of football game. It was the week after the SU/PV thing....so, being around any PV'ers was a no-go (took a bit for most of them to simma-dine). *shrugs*.....Ain't no tell'n...98 was a rough year for me.

When Prairie View A&M University broke it's 80-game losing streak vs Langston University 14-12?

I remember it like it was yesterday. It happened during my junior year on the yard. Me and my roommates had gone to Austin for a party since the game was in Oklahoma.

I remember it started out as a rumor at the party that PV had won. Every body from PV was whispering trying to figure out if it really was true. The DJ announced later that PV had won the game. Honestly, we still didn't believe it.

We drove back to campus early the next morning....when we passed by the president's house and saw the goal posts in the yard we knew it was true.

I remember all the news stations on campus the week after and the "celebration" in the Babydome.

I was in school in the band at that time. This game was 1 week after the SU game in Beaumont. The band was serving the first week of their suspension for the fight, so most of the band was at Rice Stadium taking in the TxSU-Howard game. When they first announced the score, the game was still in progress, and a HUGE cheer went up from the section beside the TxSU band. They announced the final, and folks started heading out heading back to the yard.
I did not make it back to the yard but I partied like a rock star in Houston, with some fellow PVers.

Also, the President excused classes for one day the following week of School and we had a celebration in the baby dome. TxSU sent some students from their SGA to celebrate with us.

Shid I was one of the fools that carried the goal post to the Presidents house.......that was a crazy night......:ebrow:
