Simple. Do what you do and keep your confidence within. Artistic skills speak for themselves. (Self-)Promotion is not required.ZNSpr03 said:...when you have never faced b.s because you were so good, how can you not be cocky?

mustardmanSU_04 said:since there is no band out there capable of demolishing "The One and Only," I'll be arrogant till I die, and then, I will probably fly up to heaven and talk isht to HIS personal harp player!!
Holla Back!!!
mustardmanSU_04 said:That sounds good in theory, but if everyone kept their opinions to themselves, where would the sense of competition come from? There would be no rivalries.... No fire, no passion. Sports teams have it easy: cut and dry, someone wins and someone looses.... But music on the other hand is all about preference and personal opinion, so until they out a panel of judges in every stadium to keep tallies on cute lil score cards...

College Gameday said:Trust me people...I'm probably the only person on this board that attended both SU and JSU and have a big understanding of marching bands.
Both of yall's arse is arrogant as hell, but you both earned it.
PsychoJag said:Other people praise us as well. Like I said before, ya'll are confusing arrogance with swagger.
dacontinent said:Here is the difference:
Swagger - I say to myself, "I really am good at this. I may be the best around." I walk into the arena and prove it once again. On my way out I say to myself, "I was right."
Arrogance - You hear me coming from a distance yelling [Sounding like Brett, The Hitman, Hart] - "I'm the best there is, the best there was, and the best there ever will be." I walk into the arena and prove it once again. On my way out I announce to everyone, "I told you so".
Which brings us to why the Jukes are more arrogant than any other HBCU bandsmen...because that is the chief personality trait of Dr. Isaac Greggs.
Period.
Yeah, I could tell when I arrived on campus that Dr. Greggs had a lot of swagger and confidence and instilled those qualities not only in the band but the baton rouge &surrounding community. It's hard not to be a jag fan when you arrive here in the Big Raggedy, the pride in the air is as thick as the humidity.SUtrp96 said:And I am proud of that.... It's the best way to be......

Your definition basically make arrogance and swagger synonymous.PsychoJag said:... We are not on here saying we're better than anyone...

dacontinent said:Following in the steps of your leader. That is normal human behavior.
In the case of Dr. Isaac Greggs - great leader in his own right - that is arrogance. Not an indictment, but an observation.

Psycho, you have given credence to your moniker.
