So what ya'll going to do with Rat :swink:
If that story wasn't true-why didn't anyone from Alcorn State say anything to deny it? I showed one former Alcorn student and he said it was like that when he went there.
If stuff in that story wasn't true, somebody should have said something instead of staying quiet. Somebody had to give ESPN permission to do that story on the basketball team.
One question remains-Who are they going to get?
Alcorn State is not an attractive job right now. The only way to get attention is to maybe get Larry Smith, who played at Alcorn and is right now an assistant in the WNBA. He does have 2 NBA titles and worked in the NBDL as a head coach.
Alcorn has to come up with monopoly money as Cable was teaching and assisting with the team at the same time and making nothing....
they hired that guy as AD...hmmmm.....
So what ya'll going to do with Rat :swink:
CJ, the new president is not playing. When he read that ESPN article, to say that he was livid would be an understatement. Changes have been going on since he took over and look for them to continue.
From what I've been told, the athletic budget has been seriously upgraded. I'm pretty sure that the conditions that they listed in that ESPN article, won't exist anymore.
CJ, I talked to you about the bus part of that article during the SWAC tourney.
full staff? :emlaugh:
there are alot of factors that go into building a quality program in today's society...first of all...alums need to realize the coaches of yesteryear aren't around anymore and the talent level will never be the same...
secondly...kids are exposed to more on the high school scene now so you got to realize an outdated facility can kill you before you do anything
third...school location is very important..
lastly....you need resources to win......outside of full staff, you need administrative support from the AD, SID, etc.
So what ya'll going to do with Rat :swink:[/QUOTE/]
 I've always asked the same question. Rat is an Alcorn legend through tenure only. But most who have played under him have a whole lot of respect for him.
I can't answer now, but the way the doors at Alcorn are swinging, I have no idea.
I couldnt possibly believe Jason Cable was just getting paid 25,000 to be an assistant AND teach.... that cant be minimum wage. He needs to come back home. Im sure he can take over at our high school and make much more than that.
So what ya'll going to do with Rat :swink:
Regardless of what that article says I just don't believe that is all that he was making.I'm not justifying anything, but if Jason was only making 25,000, then that's what he agreed to. I'm glad for the work he did, but I'm sure there was a supplement somewhere... whether living on campus or allowing him to go to school for his Masters. If not :smh:
Regardless if it was supplemented or not, on the books, it should have been more. That's a whole lot of work!

RAT is the safest coach in the SWAC.
RAT ain't going nowhere until he get's ready to go.
Can't say that about any other coach.

........you must remember, you are talking about baseball:xeye::.In other words, who really cares...............Well very few anyway.
This has been like Christmas for Braves fans. Thomas is gone, now West is gone.

Don't know about ya'll but when JSU went through all that they can play/they can't play mess 3 year's ago that cost us a potential SWAC Title in baseball, found out a he!! of a lot of people care around here.
What about hiring Dellie Robinson, the current coach at Vicksburg High School? He was once interested in the position.
You'd think West would've learned something on how to organize and produce a winning (above .500) program, since he was mentored by the legendary Dave Whitney.
Coach West, the same man I remember attending Jackson State's homecoming game while Alcorn was playing a game in Lorman on the same day. When I saw him tailgating right next to us, I knew he wouldn't be in Lorman too long. What the heck is this man doing at a JSU game when Alcorn has a game?:smh:
I guess he was boycotting Alcorn's football team like most of the Braves fans.
He's probably a better high school coach any way.
