They did. I remember one year they had over 40 t-bones and sounded like our 25 lol.
 



The thing is other Bands try to push power, Bamma Jelly and Texas Southern but we are the copy cats. Even though SU stole the powder blue from our unies and added it to theirs. Even though they have a larger woodwind section we're the only ones in the entire HBCU world that have added power.

If JSU had stayed pat then you mofos would be claiming you smashed us every year and we sound bland like Pine Bluff.

It's like everything else when you guys talk about JSU...Slanted all the time.

I said claiming . Now you can't even claim it now...JSU still plays marches, and sound nothing like SU. I will not admit we changed anything. Just added more horns...

I started the d@mn thread and I NEVER said anything about JSU adding power. Please re-read what I typed and TRY to dispute it. You really got to be the dumbest, because:

(1) Columbia (not POWDER) blue is the official blue of the University. That is why it is used on our uniform.

(2) Pine Bluff has a bland song selection, but they sound better than JSU.

(3) Please believe if we wanted to "compete" with JSU on having more woodwinds :lol:, we would have added more...

That dude left after 1999. I don't care what ya'll say, he sucked. He may be a great arranger but he was not good for JSU from 1996-1999. It was not a coinsidence that things improved when he left.

Also, JSU smashed SU at halftime in Jackson. PERIOD! ..and in Bham. ...and the stand battle in Bham was pretty close cause JSU was whoopin that azz and keepin it crunk!

You can't compete with JSU becasue we are nothing alike. Your whole book is whole notes. :lol: Maybe we adopted a new arrangement but our style is nothing like the Jukebox and never will be.

Bruh, I was here in 1999 on TSPN...the band board was hot back them...and neutral folks like those from FAMU gave halftime to JSU. JR told ya'll that you have to go for the kill and leave no doubt. SU at Halftime is SU. JSU is entertainment. Depends on what you like..but I already know what SU is gonna do at halftime. REALLY! :lol:

Man I was in the band in '99 and was at both battles hence my screen name. Plus I have it on video. Yall got skull drugged twice. Besides didn't yall play "Its Raining Men" for all SWAC to see in '99? :lol: please check youtube and get your facts straight before posting.

Hold up...I always hear this but where is the proof..."all Southern plays is whole notes"...kinda funny how we're always at the top of the arrangement list EVERY year...so should we add additional notes to make the music more difficult so it can sound like ish?

Until JSU gets rid of that lazy azz marching and stops looking high schoolish they shouldnt be mentioned in the same breath as SU..

Yet we ARE ...and ya'll hate it. You all hate that there is no clear consensus on who the #1 band in the SWAC is....mainly because our styles are different.

..and Tbone...I was at both games...halftimes went to JSU. I wish we had the threads from back then. SU folks were up in here getting mad the neutral folks givin the W to JSU. :nod:

How did we steal the powder blue from your uniforms? I was there when we got those uniforms which were ordered in 1984 and we wore them in 85.SU didn't see JSU uniforms which they got at the end of 83 but were unveiled in Fall 84 which by that time we had already ordered ours before the season even started. I remember getting measured for the new ones during the summer of my crab year. Doc would never copy you mofos and for the record SU went to the lighter blue because it was closer to our school colors and the white on the overlays got dirty quicker and Doc got tired of trying to keep that part of uniform clean around the "S". What would have been JSU's reason to put any light blue color in their uniforms? It aint your school colors if you want to get technical about it.
