Vince McMahon rebooting the XFL?

Deeeeep In The Delta.....
Likely rebooting it or a variation of it (since he has filed trademarks for a few names (XFL,UFL,UrFL)) or making a run at buying the Panthers

Rumors that Vince McMahon wants to reboot the XFLare officially more than just rumors.

Today the WWE revealed to the Securities and Exchange Commission that McMahon has sold about $100 million worth of stock, and that he did so “primarily to fund a separate entity from the Company, Alpha Entertainment LLC, which Mr. McMahon established to explore investment opportunities across the sports and entertainment landscapes, including professional football.”

I actually loved the XFL. The problem was, they made it too big to live up to. They should have just kept it on a smaller scale. But the idea of a renegade football league with it's own rules, I really loved that concept.

Kinda thought more of the influence from from the style of "Any Given Sunday."

The spider cam above the field came from the XFL

That's one of the things that the NFL uses that the XFL used first

This time around, if he does reboot the XFL or a variation of it, at least he has his own network that he could show it on if he doesn't get a major network/cable channel to show it (like USA)

Some of those old XFL rules like no halo on punts ain’t gonna fly nowadays.

Now if they did something like the KO returner has to return the KO and not take a touchback, that could be interesting

Yeah I'm sure Vince is smart enough to not implement rules like that this time around with the CTE cloud hanging over the NFL.

The reason the XFL died the first time was because the football was bad.

Don’t know how the league solves that issue on a reboot.

I just remember being disappointed that isn’t wasn’t the lawless football league I’d expected lol

This should now be called the RWL (Right Wing League), especially with news coming out that players will be required to stand for the national anthem.

Will those XFL cheerleaders be back? asking for a friend

No. He wants this to be gimmick free and to basically what the NFL "used to be"

As some have said on TV, this might be bad timing for him because of declining NFL ratings and participation plus the football market might be at its saturation point (NFL then college football with a sprinkling of CFL)

Now if Vince was trying to make the XFL the NFL's G-League ...

That's what he could do. A 8-12 team league that play on fridays in areas that don't have pro or big time college football for 10 weeks in the middle of the NFL season or in the spring. Have contracts where his players can be accessible to NFL teams like the old CBA players were for NBA teams. The problem he will have is getting players to fit those rules he has set out to be eligible to play. Some guys just need a place for a 2nd chance and having no criminal record to play will make a lot of players ineligible.

The MAGA League. Better read between the lines while y'all touting Vincent. Isn't the wife a part of *rump's cabinet or something? This goes deeper than just playing football. Why does he want no partners? Why does he want total control? Most business men want minority investors to lesson their financial burden...or is this a money laundering effort?

Just asking.....

Yes, Linda McMahon is the current head of the Small Business Administration ... I'm not touting Vince at all. His main product has gotten stale, and now folks are getting shine and paper WITHOUT him. (namely the Bullet Club/The Elite cats).

Someone on a rasslin' talk show on Sirius asked the same question regarding investors. Why wouldn't Vince want other "maverick" business folks to throw in with him and own teams.

Also, the timing of this right when WWE is in talks with different networks to carry their broadcasts isn't lost on me.

Another thing, football isn't what it was when he tried the XFL the first time. Player safety issues are to the forefront. Vince's pockets aren't deep enough to deal with CTE issues (although he has given money to the Legacy Foundation's CTE research). The only way he can get talent is to either raid the NFL (who has way deeper pockets) or get HS kids/college kids to forgo college and jump in with him for about $50K/year.
