Vin Diesel as Hannibal?

Should be someone darker in my opinion. The story itself will be great but perception is reality these days. Hollywood will try to find the lightest negro they can lol

Now they are not but back then they wasn't, IJS....

Its easy for people to forget how invasions, conquest and migration can cause dramatic changes to a population. It seems like we wouldn't be as susceptible in America since a shade under four hundred years ago anyone would have been hard pressed to find a white or black person.

Bro, I am pro-dark skinned as they come. Even looking at the statues and old paintings that portray Hannibal, it doesn't seem that he was dark skinned at all. I actually think Vin Diesel's skin color wouldn't be that far off from the actual Hannibal. Some people dispute those paintings and statues though. Not saying that that Northern Africa has not whitened over the years but Hannibal came nearly 300 years after the Persians had invaded Northern Africa and lightened the gene pool.

Folks holler about Cleopatra was black (meaning sub-Saharan African), but when she was actually of Greek/Roman descent.

Vin Diesel and Denzel Washington each had plans in development to do a Hannibal movie. I would like to see Mansa Musa and Queen Amina brought to the TV or movie screens. A graphic novel at least. And yes, I'm flashing back to those Kings and Queens of Africa posters Budweiser used to come out with

LOL ... we had those posters at my house and my grandparents' house. Also, all the hole in the wall joints at the crib had those posters

Hannibal's father reminds you of Rick Ross--I saw a documentary on him his depiction was of the same type beard, bald headed, dark skinned, heavy set, real tall and could fight seriously.

Journalist, as I'm sure you do in most cases, let's stay in remembrance to inform people when they don't know any better. It is true Cleopatra was Macedonian Greek, but not Roman. After Alexander "The Great" conquered Egypt a line a Europeans ruled Egypt for centuries, and due to the practice incestuous/inbreeding marriage there is little doubt about her complexion. Also, it might interest some that there were several Cleopatra's throughout Egyptian Dynastic time periods, but the one most popularly mentioned is the last person to rule Egypt as a pharaoh.

Also, I agree about the need for something on Mansa Musa.

The Cleopatra we know of was Cleopatra VII... she was in the Ptolemaic (spell check) line of pharoahs that Alexander the Great put into power. Dude, I was amazed at the level of inbreeding in this bloodline. I knew there was a lot of inbreeding amongst royal families throughout the centuries, but this one blew my mind.

Also, I would also like to see something about the ancient iron manufacturing in Southern Africa like in Zimbabwe. Kanye West's name came from one of those ancient African manufacturing cities. Or how about Axum as well.

Mansa Musa's story would be epic. Carthage was a Phoenician colony. The Romans defeated Carthage in the Punic Wars and named the new province "Africa".
