Y'all said this 8 years ago. Now we have to wait 2 more years? Other schools has gotten in APR trouble and has gotten it right, but you guys STILL seems to be sitting in APR hell. And what's the excuse for your female soccer team? They had an 0 score too?

I finally got around to reading the article. Too much filet mignon can clog your arteries and too many hot dogs can give you cancer. A point here or there was decent (ncaa acceptance and attempted inclusion late in the game for HBCUs) but other points (plural) were waaaaay off (declining enrollments smh, budgets, et al).

For me, I'm waiting to hear of the recruits that "chose AAMU over univ of alabama" or "chose Southern U over lsu." THAT is when I will know that the sun has risen on the right side of the earth again. Someone else can elaborate on winning battles over SLC, MVC, et al D-I FCS conf schools as some type of victory. For us @ PVAMU, we eye young men (& women) choosing Baylor, SMU, UofH, Rice, Tx Tech, aTm, and ut-austin, in that order, as the ones we should be recruiting and going head-to-head w/ others over.
 
The talented and gifted young men and young women make this "thing" [the game] go. If you get them, you change everything. You have the facilities they seek, you have the notoriety they seek, you have the beautiful campus they seek, you have the great academics they should be seeking, and you have the support system they need in order to succeed. What's the problem w/ offering them? They are hungy and NEED sustenance. If you have a young man/woman who's been starving his/her entire life, you can feed him/her a saltine and they'll think it's a ritz cracker lol. True story. I speak from experience. :D lol Currently, there is one thing I have a VERY VERY SERIOUS issue with.... it's VERY telling when a young African-American male/female CHOOSES to identify w/ someone/entities that do NOT look like them over those who DO look like them. To date, I don't know what it's like to approach and speak w/ a true 5* football student-athlete but I can tell you I was doing my BEST to go speak with one last year in gladewater, tx. Phoning relatives who knew his family/him, et al. I wanted to speak w/ him to see where his head was.
 
So is no one going to address how this racist, biased article is firing shots at all of our schools? We have problems with APR, but large schools constantly pay players and blatantly violate NCAA rules. Blatantly. I haven't seen one article saying Ole Miss or USC should leave the NCAA for not following rules. There are tons of FCS programs that aren't competitive. The writer even went as far to throw shade on the Celebration Bowl, which was a success. We don't need their approval! Dumb azzed article....

Furthermore, this article makes the assumption that we would be "powerhouses" on the D2 level. The problem is that we currently have D1 talent. If we go to D2, we'll have D2 talent, so we'll have the same struggles on the field. You can cut back on Soccer, Bowling and Tennis and put that money into football, but it won't matter if you still can't recruit 3- 4- and 5-star recruits to come play against Delta State.

Look man...the article is about HBCU's on the D-I level. Now yes you have point about the issue of not keeping the doors open there would be no APR but again, that's not the point of the article.

SU has severe APR issues. How is SU going to fix that? Should they totally ignore it and worry about keeping the doors open?

SU is currently one of the casualties of that article.

SU's issues are in the past, it's not a reflection of the current athletes or staff.

I'm borrowing this from that other thread. Now looking at this, the SWAC and other HBCU's are well-represented. Although it's only preseason, it goes to show that we have teams that are just as well-respected as the PWC's.

There is nothing that suggests we would be better-served in D2. What they'd better hope is that 8 or 10 programs don't get together and move up to BCS. The P5's will sustain but the Sun Belts and CUSA's will be forced to adjust.
