USM and the welfare embezzlement scam in Mississippi

We tried to 'splain to you that the power is at the state level. These folks will give up a city but not a state. Mayors can't do much without a strong tax base.

Well, they prosecuted those guys that stole from the NFL Insurance Fund with the quickness.

Also, The state of Mississippi misappropriated 77,000,000 of TANF funds. Do you know many communities gone lacking without some of those funds?

Why doesn't Coach Prime call his two buddies ( The Governor and U.S. Senator) on this matter?

And getting away with it. Don't ask me, ask Deion if you got beefs with him.

He IS THEE head football coach at THEE Jackson State University, not an employee who oversees TANF appropriation.

C'mon now.

Just kidding.

I just find it funny that Brett Farve is still walking the streets. Meanwhile, Barry Bonds had to serve time.

Any black person who believe that justice is a damn fool.

The nation's poorest state used welfare money to pay Brett Favre for speeches he never made

Brett Favre earned nearly $140 million as a star NFL quarterback over two decades and millions more in product endorsements.

But that didn’t stop the state of Mississippi from paying Favre $1.1 million in 2017 and 2018 to make motivational speeches — out of federal welfare funds intended for needy families. The Mississippi state auditor said Favre never gave the speeches and demanded the money back, with interest.

Favre has repaid the fees, although not the $228,000 in interest the auditor also demanded. But the revelation by the auditor that $70 million in TANF welfare funds was doled out to a multimillionaire athlete, a professional wrestler, a horse farm and a volleyball complex are at the heart of a scandal that has rocked the nation’s poorest state, sparking parallel state and federal criminal investigations that have led to charges and guilty pleas involving some of the key players.

Favre hasn’t been accused of a crime or charged, and he declined an interview. His lawyer, Bud Holmes, said he did nothing wrong and never understood he was paid with money intended to help poor children. Holmes acknowledged that the FBI had questioned Favre in the case, a fact that hasn’t previously been reported.

@Mrwiregrass, what say you?

A state that's 50th in education... that also was the first to jump in and say that they were going to tax student loan forgiveness. It's almost as if, being ignant there is encouraged.

The Republicans and Democrats are all the same.

When the majority of people realize this, their lives will be much easier instead of cheerleading for political parties

As someone here in Mississippi, anyone with an inkling of political saavy know that everything here politically is about race (see this situation) so seeing how they did Jackson is not shocking because it's been known

The nuance is that Biden gave the money LAST YEAR to Mississippi to fix the water but left it up to the state to dispurse (which we know they didn't). Plus Bennie Thompson has been in office 30 years with part of Jackson being in his district. He's been known about the water problems as well but too busy carrying the water for Pelosi

Bennie Thompson is only worried about doing Q&A's on the January 6th insurrection. Now, how is that going to help the black people in his district?

Lumamba and Rep. Thompson should have been on top of this matter. But, black people are more concerned with non-black issues that our own.

Where are the white feminist???

LGBT

The Democratic Party (The white liberals)

I swear, we are always going to help everybody else out. But, we don't get the same fanfare.

White supremacy at work. We should drop of all the black gangs to Mississippi and let them put their evil to good ... evil fighting evil.

Where have black gangs ever messed with the white establishment? They know all out assault would come down on them if they even tried...it wouldn't be like Jan. 6th...the military would kill at least a thousand in the first couple of hours...no questions asked.

Ukraine is treated better by The Democratic Party than the black people in Jackson, Mississippi that voted for them. 🤯

You do realize that Mississippi is ran by Republicans who control the Federal dollars....The money that was given for water infrastructure was not released to Jackson on purpose...No need to go into this...it is well documented.

But, President Biden had since January 2021 to call Executive order on this situation. But, when it came to Asians, LGBT, and other groups. He sure didn't hesitate to do it.
