Its the number 1 seeds tourney to lose.

Serena should win if she plays to form. She has been pushing the ball this year, not striking it, the last two tourneys, she as striking the ball again.

Roger has been playing really well this summer, Rafa is out, Andy is not playing well and Novak has not been in top form this summer.

Yeah, Serena looked very sharp in the Western/Southern Championship FINALs.
 



Donald Young crashed and burned badly yesterday. Started off up 4 - 1 in, fell apart, it was very ugly.

Venus got through her first round match.

Serena and Roger up tonight.
 
Kudos to young American CiCi Bellis, 15, the youngest US Open winner since '96.

She is 1,208th-ranked she won 6-1, 4-6, 6-4 victory Tuesday over 12th-seeded Dominika Cibulkova in the first round at Flushing Meadows.
 
Sloane crashed and burned today. I keep thinking she will get it together, it looks like she will be another Donald Young.
 
Venus match was up and down. Fun third set, she just could not pull it out.


Monofils is a character, such a showman.
 
Venus was back to normal today during doubles.

David F. Was not himself today, but part of that was Giles Simon was on his game today.

Cilic / Anderson match was very good.

It's been so nice in the northeast this summer,but we are ending it with best and humidity.

The people playing during the day (and fans) have suffered.

The second week is under way no American men are in the singles and Serena is the only American woman left in the draw.

Americans are left in the various doubles.
 



Today's match should be interesting.

Its going to VERY HOT and HUMID, if it goes to three sets, its going to be tough
 
Yep lots of ranked players went down early.....I was at TSU football game last night and thought I recorded the Monfils vs Federer match but didn't:mad: Monfils is very talented and gifted and took RF to the brink; however, couldn't close it out but has been playing some great tennis in the US Open.

He is talented, but has had a lot of injuries. He can't seem to stay focused, too many loose points from him to win a major.
 
I am looking toward to Serena / Caroline match today. Will Serena be able to get passed that she is playing her friend???
 
Congratulations Serena! 18th major women's single title.

She is tied with Chris and Martina.
