UL-Lafayette has been added to the 2016 football schedule

Even though UL is on an upswing, I'm sure they are happy as hell to get the Jags back on the campus. I was at that last game......it was ninjas everywhere!!!!!!

MAN...who you tellin? Only downside to that was later that night it rained. Otherwise, it was a good game. :pimp:

Its gonna be an azz whoopin sure enough but (even tho I don't like 1-AA vs 1-A games) this is one I could co-sign.

Yep...........This is what I have said all along if we gonna schedule a FBS money game.

These are the FBS teams we need to be playing. The ULL, L. Techs, L. Monroes, USM, Troy, etc. Short bus rides, small expenses, "big", (nice) pay check. On top of that, it is in the same footprint of our conference. People know you and our fans can flood the place because it's not like these schools sell out their stadiums every week.

Forget playing the Ms. States, TCU's, Oklahoma States, etc of the world.

Yeah bro... We were about 30 deep from Eunice for the game... It was also my 30th birthday... Epic I tell you!!

Got to see folks from the yard I haven't seen in over 10 or so years. People drove in from other states to see this game... Also, didn't hurt that it was a long holiday weekend.

I just hope that Dr. Broussard and others are on top of it as it relates to the financial arrangement. And I am sure they are! Four years ago, it is my understsanding that we received somewhere in the range of $200,000.00 (guarantee plus 6000-ticket limit sold by SU). That would ordinarily be a good paycheck from a mid-major program except that we (SU) put half the bodies in the seats. We received more than $200,000 from New Mexico last year, where we took only a handful of fans. If we are going to fill half of ULL's seats, pay parking fees, buy their concessions, and game-day programs, we deserve more than an ordinary game guarantee. We should demand, in my opinion, not less than $275,000. If we can't get it, then we shouldn't play them.

The previous arrangement sounds very good. You get $400K for a game your team, bands and fans have easy access to. Some people kill me about their monetary demands on someone elses home turf. All ya'll gotta do is show up and get whooped. They have to pay for the lights, the security, the printed materials, concession workers, parking attendants, water, etc.. That's stuff costs money. And if they gonna give ya'll most of the profit, they would be just was well off to bring in an opponent who won't demand as much.

There are so many Southernites that live in Acadiana(Lafayette, Eunice, Crowley Opelousas, New Iberia and all points in between) and when you couple that with the 45 minute drive from Baton Rouge, 1 hour drive form Lake Charles and those Louisiana native Texas folks coming down I-10 for Labor Day, you have nothing but a big azz party. :emlaugh:

What really made it interesting was the fact that SU football team actually was competitive for the 1st half and actually held the lead at one point in the half, so that kept the atmosphere hype. Then the band just knocked it out the park and almost made the stadium explode at halftime.

Yea, I remember one of those beautiful bombs thrown in the 1st Qtr. for a TD. I hope we can play a more competitive game this time around. ULL has been pretty good the last two seasons though including a big N.O. Bowl thriller year before last so it will be tough.

Nice game, nice atmosphere, and the view was lovely. Might have to make a weekend out of that game.

There will be some surprises this fall.
Coach Odom is bringing in D-I tranfers.
3 are on campus now in school.
It's going to be an interesting and surprising season.

The AD is doing his job. Big difference now. The man knows his job.
