TXSU - That's So Raven

Where's the punchline? ALOT of people on other sites have heard this and gave props. No one else plays these or thought to play these. The Ocean also plays the theme from the show "Private Eyes". They've also been known to play Phantom of the Opera, Purple Rain, a fanfare from Adagio for Strings, Toccatta and Fugue, Also Sprach Zarathustra (space Odyssey), Circus Bee March (before 1985), Caravan (80's and now), Sophisticated Lady and Night Time is the Right Time. Diversity is good for performance.:read: :lecture:

Are those "Disney Channel" songs?

TV themes are commonplace. Good Times, The Price Is Right, ESPN, Jeopardy, NFL on Fox, Entertainment Tonight, etc...

If it sounds good and is easily identifiable, then go ahead and "blow dat batch"...

man txsu is very creative, they are blowing the mf out of that tune, much props to the ocean, they shocked me more than any band in the swac this past season!

Has any band played the theme song from "Gunsmoke"?

Didnt the Jukes do the Coke theme?

TxSU was strong and powerful. I like the arrangement.

ESPN
X-MEN Theme
Fox Sports

Yall get exposure for them Frats?

SU only played ESPN at ESPN's request I believe that was 91... X-Men theme, I ain't know SU played that, that's a knew one to me... And I am sure Fox Sports was done at the request of Fox Sports if they did play it....

Theme songs for SU are usually requested.. But by no means am I knocking TxSU playing those tunes.. I actually like it.. But if you going to put SU in the mix, make sure you know what you are talking about...

who said you?

Yall Jukes stick togethere huh.
My point was: Its was a song. All bands play jingles, theme songs etc. Why would a Juke trying to front TxSO out for playing That's so Raven. It was clean, recognizable and POWERFULL (something I though SU respected).
But when the flip is put on yall then SU gets Defensive.

Did the Monday Night Football crew and producers give SU the okay to play the MNF theme. Wonder did BCC have to ask or get permission.

Cause thats the thing dog, we never did jingles or gimmicks. I don't hate on TxSU for playing that stuff, thats their thing, but The Jukebox played Coke for a commercial, and ESPN at their request during the NCAA tournament, and even the old BET theme from back when we used to play on BET and spell BET on the field.

Oh yeah... MNF did ask for that theme to be played also when the Superdome was reopened for the Saints v Falcons Monday night game!

Not cocky dog, just the facts.

ps. Since when is something wrong with having pride in your organization? I show equal enthusiasm for the Psi Phi!

Dayum fool, didn't I say I liked what they were doing? I mad my point to you because of your OVERtones and you proved it in this LAST post.. Your overtone was EVERY SU bandmember felt the same way.. I clearly don't feel the same way the topic starter feel.. And BTW, the topic starter didn't even March for SU.....which makes your allegations even worse...

No fault but it just seems like SU dont think they SHAT Stinks.
Every think that maybe NICKELODEON called TxSo and say "Hey play this song for us". What's good for the goose.....

Point is: Its a good STRONG CLEAN arrangement so why the HATE by yall fellow SUer?????

Its for Entertainment purposes only.

I'm not your son kido...Entertainment Purposes or not, you still tried to generalized everyone that marched for SU based off pf a post that was made by someone that did not march for SU.... How silly is that?Your Overtones spoke exactly what we all thought, which is why you are getting into it with other folk on here, that DID march for SU that DON'T view this thread eye to eye with me, and we both(all 3) juggern and pj all sat in the same four walls for 4 years....Again how silly is that?

Still smh @ I thought that's what you juke looked for in a band....but LMAO at the same time...Go right ahead brother....

btw, our schitt don't stank...carry on. :D

I stopped being surprised at TxSU, when their tubas played the Teletubby theme song one year.

Nah, Sonny. You know good'n well we don't think that. Don't tell me you're starting to believe the stereotypes. Our isht stinks too....just not as bad....

The X-Men theme song is a Baritone section challenge not a full band song.

The ESPN crew, MNF crew and the Fox sports crew actually sent the original scores to the band dept for our arrangers to use while arranging the tune. There is a reason why we do everything......

This song was chosen because
1. It's original
2. NO ONE ELSE PLAYS IT or would play it like the Ocean does (though Coming to America theme has been bitten so many times)
and 3. It's catchy and has some good things going on with rhythms and whatnot.

People are reading too far into this. No one asked the Ocean to play it, they just do. It's creative. Nuff said.
