Errah...NT. I don't know if you know this or not. But, I put up TSU clips against JSt. I grew up in Houston. Had family on TSU's faculty for quite some time. I keep tell'n you JSt. folks that yall don't kick enough arse for me to consider you anything past plain'o JSt. in the Sipp....:lol:

When did Jackson State start putting their instruments on the ground during the dance routine?

JSU's dance routine did remind me a lot of Southern. The four blocks and laying the instruments on the ground. One big difference, Southern dances with perfection, JSU lacked uniformity when dancing. The 2nd block that did the "stanky leg", the band member on the front row, second from the right was working it out, the others were slacking!

I usually don't watch jsu clips but this one caught my eye. Damn I would've sworn that was a Baton Rouge High School imitating Southern(except the lines would have been straighter:lol:). Is there no originality in jackson? They try to imitate The Jukebox, jaycettes try to out-golden girl the Golden Girl, and they just blatantly stole GSU's "Rock the House" Chant... The only part of their show that is theirs is the drum major entrances(even though I saw that schit at an Atlanta high school in 1990). :shame:
 
honestly i don't even know what to say...as a former member i was not pleased with what they did at the TxSU game at halftime(dont know if they did it at Valley cause i wasnt there)...not sure who is coming up with the dance routines now but i hope they dont do this anymore...i agree it did look SU'ish...most, if not all, alumni i was sitting by didn't like it either :lecture:

probably the worst show ever...best thing is the Jsette routine and Bcuz I Love You

:lol: Are you serious? You didn't see J-Settes running into one another @4:47 and another falling around 5:00? The band director JSU has now is worst than Liddell. :shame:

Answer: When the dance moves warranted it. This is not a first.

With that being said, I will once again reiterate my #1 exhortation to HBCU bands: STOP trying to DANCE!!! It looks HORR-RR-RR-IBLE!! Leave dancing to the dance troupes and just make great music.

If you are going to ignore that, then tone it down to something that EVERYONE can execute synchronously.

Someone correct me if I am wrong, but I never saw a Dowell Taylor era "Sonic Boom" place instruments on the ground.

I was bout to say the same thing lol... buddy was GETTIN it on Stanky Leg... but he outshined the entire block.... nobody else in the 2nd block could dance lol
