Notice how he subtlely slipped in the following comment: "Some of the responses have been negative calling it a "Slade deal" and that the Univ needs to focus more on academics than money considering their financial woes.

C-Leb should be halfway to New Orleans by now.

That comment came off the Chronicle Website...

Yep. Was just quoting them and not using them as my own quotes. It's been brought up here before, but a lot of people's views in the city of Houston on Tx Southern are tied to the Slade/financial issues of the institution due to the constant media coverage of it. I do not believe TxSo has been painted in a positive light by the local media outside of possible involvement in the SSS deal.

I'm sure not all of the comments made in those articles were negative towards TSU, but somehow Texas Error found them and mentioned only them.

I think it'll be a good thing if you all can pull it off. It would allow for more fan participation and for better recruitment in the Houston area.

As of this post, in this article (http://www.chron.com/disp/commnts.mpl/sports/5762885.html), there are 22 comments. I count only five that are supportive of Texas Southern without making remarks regarding the financial issues of the school or questioning the involvement of TxSo in the deal.

In another article (http://www.chron.com/disp/commnts.mpl/sports/5762932.html), it's 50/50. One negative and the other says they just want the deal done.

Can you name some of the positives?

Positive posts from the thread...

Go, TSU! Hail, hail, hail to Texas Southern! Show us your many talents people refuse to acknowledge and recognize. And thank you for my unforgettable undergraduate years with caring and competent staff! Cum Laude May 2003
*Lots of love from California*

Thunder1, did you not read the article?? Maybe this statement will help you out.

"While McClelland declined to disclose the size or range of the financial commitment because of the ongoing nature of the talks, he is confident the range that has been discussed is "within the capability of the university."

Way to Go TSU!!!!!

or all you Non-TSU supporters............WE GOT THIS!!!!

If only you all knew the current terms of the deal it is a win/win situation for both parties.

My top four positives...
1) Dynamo get political backbone in getting their SSS which keeps them in Houston.
2) Texas Southern gets a facility that they can actually promote and it'd easily be near the top of the food chain as far as FCS facilities go.
3) Would probably open the door for a SHSU vs Texas Southern football game seeing as SHSU would actually be willing to do a home-and-home instead of staying away from the on-campus "facility".
4) Houston could host the MLS Cup

What the fugg...who using my line? :retard:

This is very refreshing to hear and I am super excited about it. It appears everyone is onboard with the deal and if we need to get our political foes involved, let's do it.

I am late to this thread but wanted to add a few comments.

Does SHSU have a fan site or a conference site that you can joiin because CLEARLY you need to be over there....
:retard:

This is so very true especially after the thread on the academic report!!!

What part of what I said was not what you consider factual? How about you allow TSU to tend to their business and you go find other fish to fry. We dont have any or shall I say NONE for you.

I would ask the same thing but suspect that DEEP down TT is a closet TSU fan. Yes, it sound strange. But much stranger things have happened.

Sick 'em TSU folks, sick 'em!!!:emlaugh::emlaugh:

Back to your cave Texas Error.

Come on man... now you have me WISHING he adds something negative. :lmao:

An update...

Fallas and McClelland eliminates any concerns people have about a track at the facility.

And more importantly, McClelland gets the sensitivity related to the football lines on the field...

"We definitely understand the issue and I think we will be sensitive to it if the deal is done. We understand that football lines are something the soccer community isn't really interested about."

It will be a natural grass stadium. The Dynamos have agreed that during our football season that should they have home games that fall on the same weekend, they would play their games on Sunday and allow up to keep Saturday.

There won't be too many conflicts at that part of the year as the season is wrapping up. The only issue would be the playoffs as national television contracts come into play with that one.

TT,

That all has been worked out.

While you read "message boards" and get informed, I'll continue to get my information from personal conversations with Oliver Luck and Charles McClelland.

"WE GOT THIS!!!" thanks delock

Hey Cleb, tell chucky to close the deal...I can't wait for the LBC to be held there so Reliant can stop raping the both of us..... However is this an indefinite or definite stay for TSU... I'm hearing things about x-number of years and operational cost...Tell chucky to do a cost analysis on the operational cost it can sometime be as much of 10% of the building cost per year...

It's a 20-year lease agreement with a full share of concessions and parking revenue. I'm almost too embarrassed to tell you how much our cost is.
