Re: TSU BANNED!

Dont low resource schools get a clear slate starting this year.

I think you qualify for a clear slate if your school is showing IMPROVEMENT. Somebody help GR.

TSU has been sitting around listening to Charles Mc tell them lies about their APR and "this is our place."
But thats what they get. Ive been trying to tell them for years now that he needs to go.

Re: TSU BANNED!

TSU is still awaiting the results of the current investigation that involves academic rules violations, grade scandals and pay for play. Arviel Nelson and players from that 2010 swac championship year and former players could be involved. Coach Cole did a number on these guys and TSU. Some administraters were involved as well. This investigation could be hugh and the penalities can really hurt TSU. TSU loyal fans knew about this through rumors that were surfacing and some of them reported it to the prez.

All this cheating. :smh:

And STILL couldn't beat us. :emlaugh:

Re: TSU BANNED!

this is not the end. what's good for one is good for all... each school will likely fall victim to the foolishness of a POST-SEASON BAN form the SWAC Championship. #OVerIt

Re: TSU BANNED!

No one ever hinted that.....practice time was lost last season....losing the spring game does not mean much....the spring game is more for the fans than the team.....they scrimmage all of the time.

What do you mean is this some new news? You guys were hinting that your school wasn't going to receive any serious penalties. Well guess what, you were wrong.
You guys voted for JSU and SU to be banned, now it's your turn to suffer the consequences.

On top of that, your team is losing valuable hours of practice time, which includes no spring football game, no spring practice time, loss of four hours of practice time PER WEEK during practice.

"Penalties for the University include the elimination of spring football practice and the spring game, loss of four hours of countable athletically related activities per week during the football team’s playing and practice season, and the loss of four hours of countable athletically related activities per week outside of the team’s playing and practice season. All lost hours must be replaced by hours of academic related activities."

This is going to really hurt the team due to the fact that you all have new coaches and a new system being implemented. The coaches won't have much time at all to acclimate the players to this new system and it will certainly show, especially during the first few games of the season.

Uuuum Herb...didnt yall finish in last place last season?

Re: TSU BANNED!

Exactly....you couldnt be more right? CharlesMclleland is the worst AD in the SWAC. I've been telling yall this from the beginning. To say "we have a compliance team and we are looking after it" at this point is unacceptable. All he has to do is keep saying the same crap that he has been saying about the APR for the past 3 years and they eat it up. So sad....

But last year during the vote, I just knew that TSU wouldnt vote against an APR ban since their APR was much worse than JSU/SU. I figured Alcorn Valley JSU SU and Valley wouldnt vote for the ban. But these idiots, who knew they were the worst APR school in the country voted against their own interest. Dumbasses...

If Charles Mc doesnt get fired behind this, he will never get fired.

This is the reason why I never wanted him to get the vacant AD position at JSU. People were shouting that he is able to raise funds but I was looking at his compliance track record at PV and Texas Southern.

Word on the street is that 2 other schools are on the same path.

Exactly...I was trying to figure out why he was on the radar. He aint did schit in Houston but manage TSUs trainwreck. TSU is in bad shape and getting worse under his watch. But all he has to do is make speeches about "this our stadium" and that kinda non sense.

Yep.

Just keeping it 100, the conference as a whole is in bad shape...from academics, athletics, fund raising, and public perception. I know that JSU has its issues but this new administration really cleans up our act, we need to seriously start planning to leave the SWAC for another FCS conference. With the high turn over rate of presidents at a few of our schools in the last 15 years and the amount of negative publicity (financial mismanagement, unethical behavior among athletic departments, SACS issues, lack of quality vision and leadership for fund raising and academics), staying in this conference is only going to hinder Jackson State from reaching its full potential.

Re: TSU BANNED!

Wow!!! The shoe is definitely on the other foot now. And to think these folk would try to play the game of politics considering the positions they were in. And did Herb say the loss of spring training and spring game was no biggie??? The game might not mean a thing, but no spring practice is huge. That's practice everybody else gets that you don't. Truly sad.

I don't know a thing about more penalties, but if there are more coming, ....... :smh:

Re: TSU BANNED!

The day of bringing in athletes instead of student-athletes is over. The smart coach and AD will seek to raise funds through alumni donations to improve Academic Counseling centers.

Ive always said that JSU should leave the SWAC. The SWAC has outlived its usefulness. Im tired of JSU carrying the SWAC but as soon as SWAC schools get their first chance they turned their backs on JSU. All of them did. SU would have done the same thing if their APR numbers werent similar.

JSU should immediately go independent in football. We can surely survive without these type schools who only bring us down. SWAC schools are terrible and JSU wont ever get better if we keep judging ourselves by SWAC standards.

Yeah, where was that unity when JSU needed support from a few in order to not be banned? It's called karma.

Well said.

If certain posters REALLY knew what was going on at some of these schools, you wouldn't see said posters posting as much as they do. You'll see what I'm talking about very soon. :read:

Hello Shaw...can I have my job back?

Those folks in Raleigh don't want him back. They feel the same way about him that JSU folks feel. I personally know some Shaw alumni and trust me when I say that Assberry as not changed since his time on JSU's staff.

Wait a minute GET READY, what do you mean by SWAC schools are terrible? Are you talking overall including academics or just athletics?

Re: TSU BANNED!

Are you serious?! You can't make it past the 811 APR mark in four long years, yet you're going to suddenly make it past the 930 APR mark in ONE year? Wonder where McClelland expects to get 119 APR points from in the next few months. LOL!!
Either McClellan is blowing smoke or there's going to be some serious academic fraud going on with the football team's APR numbers.

JayRob, the 930 mark is for the most recent two year time periods. The mark is 900 for four year time periods, if my information is correct. I think McClelland is looking at numbers this year coupled with his expectations for next year's numbers and is speculating things will be much improved. It is plausible that four year numbers could drag down two year numbers, but not the other way around if the most recent two year numbers are better. Don't get me wrong though, I understand what you're saying.

All schools in Division I must meet the same standard in 2012-13 and 2013-14 post-season—a 900 four-year APR or a 930 average over the two most recent years. The standard changes for “limited-resource institutions” for the next three years.
