Just thought I'd share a performance in praise and worship that I've been loving.
This young man has been making his mark in the last year or two with several viral videos. He is of course a resident of my current city in Memphis. No doubt, you hear the strong influence of Soulful and Blues like energies that come from Sam Cooke, Johnnie Taylor, Bobby Womack, and others that of course have roots that are deep in Gospel and Church Music. Yet, with all of those influences, he also has his own unique style.
On a side note, growing up in a traditional church, this was just a song to me, but of course when you have lived a little and you've experienced a few things, a talent like this young man will no doubt help you to really feel the words and the energies of this song (in typical Black Church music flow, the praise spirit slowly builds up and begins to climax at the 2:57 mark).
