Tribute to Coach Rob

:goof:
LOL. Yeah we would have had to put yall's arses out of the conference if you ran PV. Seriously you would have been undermined at PV. Obviously somebody has had to share your view point some where along the way at PV and for some reason can't get the masses of yall to follow.

Plz. If I had my way, I wouldn't have allowed you <b>outsiders</b> in the conference. :emlaugh: We would've transitioned the SWAC into flag football and kept it in-state. Smell me? :swink:

^^^^^^^ I agree with NN...I mean MackG...

Let's move forward. Panthro has his comments. We all disagree, but hey that's life. I get the CONCEPT of what he is saying in that PV's founders have a place in SWAC history. I get that. But it honestly has no place here on this particular thread, at this point in time. And especially not in the the manner in which he is trying to get his point across. It's truly insane.

What really disappoints me is Panthro's last few posts contain so many negative and condescending thoughts that I'm quite sure Coach Rob would be disappointed that we've allowed this to go so far with Panthro.

I'm pretty sure if Mr. Nicks (no disrespect because i don't know who he is) were still around he would probably agree that Coach Rob did the most for BLACK COLLEGE FOOTBALL (AND FOOTBALL IN GENERAL). Coach Rob's influence wasn't just on black athletes, but white as well. It wasn't JUST ABOUT SWAC FOOTBALL or even football, it was about life. Living life the way God intended for us to life. This is SO much bigger than a patch on a uniform.

This should not be about what Nicks did or didn't do or when he did it or what other founders did. Nor should there be a comparison. It sounds like Panthro's comments should be directed towards the PV folks who didn't do anything to honor Nicks so that others would know exactly what he did and what he accomplished. PV should be ashamed for allowing an opportunity to pass to NOT honor one of their own when honor was obviously due.

But right now, at this moment, at this time...we are all taking the opportunity to honor Coach Rob like he truly deserves. There are many ways to do it and I hope and pray that they move forward with something that will not only allow us to honor him currently, but will also help us and the generation to follow remember a man as great as Coach Rob.

The direction that this thread took is quite sad and almost depressing actually...:smh:

Let's move forward please...

Jag-Tig, in all due respect, what I find insane is the lack of comprehension exhibited by "alleged" graduates. Read from thread one if you desire. My point is valid. Not ONCE did I state that a tribute wasn't necessary. I just simply stated that I (me) didn't want to see his name on ANY jersey of PV's. Now, tell me... what's so hard to understand about that statement? I would think a first grader would understand/comprehend let alone an "alleged" college graduate. God forbid one that "allegedly" holds 2 degrees. I even suggested that the SCG be renamed AFTER him or even PV's solicitation for donation in HIS behalf (albeit museum, et al). Now, again, tell me.... what's so hard to understand about those statements?

Yes, I'm going to poke @ people (mentally) on this site & others because I was taught to call it like I see it. I <b>truly</b> understand why so many evacuees flunked our TAKS/grade related courses here and were behind in their grade levels in various school districts around the state. Lack of <b>comprehension</b>. In my eyes (and quite a few others), that's ridiculously insane.

I think I've been intertwined in this "other" world too long. Too much realism and truth in it. :retard: God bless Mr Robinson and his family/friends/and even enemies.

Whats funny is that now I'm seeing comparisons of Robinson to Nicks when thats no where near the issue. There are some things that need to be addressed within PV before we are able to honor people outside of PV. Of cf course the world is going to look at it as PV being prideful or lacking taste. But the true lack of taste would be in the school not realizing that it has failed to honor its own before doing something like this.

Leave it be Blaque. They ain't understanding or <b>comprehending</b>. :smh:

Y'all should thank <b>Jag-BR</b> for shutting me up (literally) because I was going to tell you how I REALLY felt vs this "nicety" role I've been playing on the net. SU, you're getting a good one in JBR.

I'm silenced.

But if PV has not honored their own in an adequate way by now they never will. Billy Nicks has been dead since 1999 or so. And I thought yall had an arena or complex named after him on campus?

I didn't say they would ever change and thats part of the problem. How does it look when you change only because you had to honor someone from outside of the university.

Panthro,

I ain't comprehending either. A league wide tribute to Eddie Robinson, mandated or otherwise, is the right thing to do. And while I feel ya on how beloved predecessors haven't been honored, it doesn't mean WE shouldn't honor Coach Rob. As much as I love JSU, I can't think of one individual who has done as much for this conference or is as revered as Coach Rob.

This league would be bush if didn't do something. Schools would be bush if they didn't step up without a league mandate.

Rob, the league should do something. Just as long as it isn't a patch on our unis, I'm fine w/ it. I don't know how else to say this. :emlaugh:

If PV makes a donation, I'll trip because we're supposed to be <b>"so damn broke"</b> right about now in the athletic department. lol Can make a donation but can't get a stadium deal together. Feel me? Priorities.

I call it being selfish and a bad case of diarrhea of the mouth.

You can "call" it WTF you care to as it's your opinion just like your anus belongs to you as well. Who cares? I mean really. Who, besides yourself, .......... cares. Just as long as the residents <b>here</b>.... on <b>this</b> soil care, that's all that matters to me. Not some arbitrary comment half-way across America from an outsider. :emlaugh:

I stand by my desire and it's not my decision and <b>certainly</b> not any of yours here unless you're employed by the state <b>here</b>...... on <b>this</b>soil. :emlaugh: :p

What should have & could have been done here was a brainstorm on what classic, permanent bowl, trophy, presentation to name after The Great One vs banter towards Panthro regarding his opinion of an "outside" name being placed on an official school jersey.

You people are pretty funny to me.
