Tribute to Coach Rob

Panthro read this.

A memorial patch on every uniform jersey of every Division I-A, I-AA, etc., football player would be nice a place to start. A moment of silence in his honor on college football's opening weekend would be another proper NCAA gesture. A bowl game with his name permanently attached would be appropriate.

Panthro I am truly ashamed for you. Of all the bad things I have witnessed on this selfhate site, your commentary has to go down as the alltime greatest. The reason our conference is the way it is today is because of fools like you.

SU tribute honors Robinson

By RANDY ROSETTA

Powerful words flowed easily Thursday when Southern University paid homage to the patriarch of its greatest rival.

But the most powerful sound was silence when former Tigers player and current Jaguars assistant Eric Dooley tried to summon his composure after he stepped up to the microphone to talk about Grambling State University coaching legend Eddie Robinson, who died Tuesday.

?Most of the time you hear about what he meant to all the players coach sent to the NFL,? Dooley said after taking several minutes to collect himself and wipe away tears at a memorial at SU?s Royal Cotillion Ballroom. ?For those who were never going to play professionally, he meant more than that. He taught me about life.

?He gave me an opportunity and I am really truly blessed to know I was coached by one of the best coaches and people of all time.?

 It would also be nice if they rename the Bayou Classic after him. THE STATE FARMS EDDIE ROBINSON BAYOU CLASSIC.

Okay, that's where I stop it. In all due respect to Eddie Robinson, in this case, his name cannot go on this game. If Collie Nicolson's (sp) name wouldn't go, the true innovator of the game, then Robinson's can't either. He has a game named for him already.

I love the conference wide patch idea on the jerseys and personally, I think all BCF should do that, but the only one who should be changing names of stuff or games is the state of Louisiana and Grambling State.

LOL. Redirect your insipid jibberish 'tilUDead. lol

The REASON this conference is the way it is TAH-DAY is because of DUMBASSES who THINK that elevation OF ONE OR TWO is some type of victory when the TEAM(s) (all) are being REAMED OOC while the SWAC has the LOWEST RPI in everything from football to HOPSCOTCH. You REALLY don't know how DUMB you sound on that other site hyping SU baseball when your sh*t sux boy. TexasTerror shouldn't have to verbally and mentally abuse you the way he does while you're trying to defend bullsh*t and I certainly won't. I knew the conference was bullsh*t when lil' old PV could field ONLY 10 football scholarships, 1 basketball, and 2 tracks and compete w/ the rest of you. Piss poor fvcking p-i-t-i-f-u-l. :retard:

BTW, if the shoe fits, put that mofo on and walk.... charlie le'riddeaux. :emlaugh:

You know Panthro, I've seen everybody on this board make some senseless comments and say stupid things.....and I mean EVERYBODY.

But in this case man, you take the cake.......Eddie Robinson died and pretty much EVERYBODY wants to pay him tribute in some form or fashion, but for you to talk about PV and Nicks is the most selfish thing you could have done. I honestly don't know who Nicks is....no disrespect.....but my point is, it's not about HIM today, it's about EDDIE ROBINSON....who touched lives all around the country and I'm sure some around the world.

It's a damn shame that a thread to honor a great man, turns into another senseless black folk argument. And the sad thing about it is.....WE'RE ALL SUPPOSED TO BE GROWN.

The patch should go on everybody's jersey.

All of this extra negativity and going back and forth is foolishness. Rest In Peace Coach Rob, I'll see you Wednesday for the last time!!!!

GUD, I'm not saying that PV or any other affected entity should not pay respects because rightfully so, they should. What I AM saying is that his NAME should NOT APPEAR ON ANYTHING WHERE THE NAME "PVAMU" appears ON A SCHOOL SPONSORED JERSEY. :) I'm sure we'll pay tribute/homage. But, his name on a SCHOOL jersey/athletic wear? Hell naw! That DOES NOT fly bruh. Putting someone else ABOVE one of your OWN does NOT fly w/ me. There are TOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO many distinguished folx @ PV who've gone home that NEVER got that same respect. This would be like a slap in their face and me, I'm not standing for it.

Put the shoe on the other foot. What if @ the 100th year celebratory of SWAC existence names of 2 PV guys, who helped create this conference, were placed on Grambling jerseys/athletic wear? :read: You and others may not have a problem w/ it but I certainly do.

What you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

Stupidity and dumb wreak havoc throughout the SWAC. :retard:

You people have to be some of the dumbest black folx I've ever had the misfortune of encountering on or off the web. :retard: YOU may not know who Nicks and others is (or was); but I (ego, summa, sunt, first person singular, sum, et al forms of "ONE" that is above your dismal lack of intelligence) know and that was NOT the focal point of my gripe dummies.

I stand behind my words. Read them again for comprehension (if you can truly fathom the word "comprehend"). And you're supposed to be educated. Laughable and "advanced" high schoolish @ best.

Ok, maybe the players can wear patches for this Nicks guy too. Will that be sufficient?

First of all SMH @ P's comments. Glad you aint running nothing at PV. But hey you are entitled to your opinion. Even though Coach Rob was the one who elevated the SWAC to national recognition. No disrespect to the founders. That is just like me saying SU's first band directors name should be more recognized than what Doc Greggs did for the program. That's why his name is on our Band Room. It aint always about who is first. Frederick Douglass did alot to abolish slavery but we celebrate MLK. See where I am going with this. Coach Rob did things none of the founders or other coaches of the SWAC could do. So yes he does deserve some type of MANDATED honor by the SWAC....well we know Council of presidents. I have no problem with coach Rob's name patch being on a SU jersey or even a Helmet sticker. Maybe that helmet decal/sticker with Coach's intials will make you feel better about it. LOL. Anyway P, you still cool with me bruh. Just don't agree with your comments.

Now what JR would like to see is the SCG Trophy being named after Coach Rob or either the BC Trophy being named after Coach. Something more permanant than a one year patch or helmet decal. The SWAC should also maybe think about renaming its coaches award. I know their is a national one named every year in honor of Coach Rob. But the SWAC does need to figure something out and do it. Each school can do whatever elese extra if they want to. I am sure SU will continue to honor Coach Rob somehow and already have started with the tribute on campus.

Hey einsteinless! Return to page 1 (uno) of this thread, read (if you're capable), and give us a full report of what you're able to ascertain.

BTW, since there's quite a few of you stupids on the world-wide currently.... Thought I'd help out a lil' bit. :swink:

Without Coach Rob there is no Bayou Classic. Without Coach Rob there is no NBC.

Will the patch of the old PV goon on the uniforms be enough?

U guys should very well be elated. lol There'd be a lot of stuff ran differently.

Trust.:wavey:

In one thread you were praising him and in this thread you are saying that he doesn't deserve to be honored at your beloved school. You can't have it both ways. Can't have your cake and eat it too.

Nah. I think a patch of a backwards porch monkey that looks like the CurtDog descendants and family would suffice. :swink: :emlaugh:

BTW, here ya' go! VVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVV Doofus. Totally subar and I don't care to entertain someone beneath this level as that would put me on your level, which is NIL. :emlaugh:

FINISH the statement Phreeze. I know you're not slow.

Honored @ my school by anything other than HIS name appearing on a PVAMU uniform/jersey. PV could donate or solicit for donations on his behalf and that's fine w/ me. Hell, if PV wanted to fly a flag on campus bearing his name, that's cool w/ me. I (me personally) do NOT want to see his name on the SAME school sponsored jersey.

Isn't this like the 5th time I've said this? There seems to be a comprehension issue w/in the SWAC. I understand the "coastal" mud-bug dwellers not understanding but I expected better comprehension of the others. I'll lower the bar. :retard:

It's a dayum jersey P. Flying a flag with his name on it on your campus is the same thing as placing a patch with his name on a PV jersey. :retard:

LOL. Yeah we would have had to put yall's arses out of the conference if you ran PV. Seriously you would have been undermined at PV. Obviously somebody has had to share your view point some where along the way at PV and for some reason can't get the masses of yall to follow.

I agree with the person who said that the SWAC championship trophy or the Bayou Classic trophy could be named after Eddie Rob. Let's not let foolishness tarnish the great man's legacy.

That would be me. It is something that will always have his name on it. I prefer the BC Trophy just because I am not sure how long this SCG thing will last. But I guess the trophy will always be given out even if we don't have a SCG.

^^^^^^^ I agree with NN...I mean MackG...

Let's move forward. Panthro has his comments. We all disagree, but hey that's life. I get the CONCEPT of what he is saying in that PV's founders have a place in SWAC history. I get that. But it honestly has no place here on this particular thread, at this point in time. And especially not in the the manner in which he is trying to get his point across. It's truly insane.

What really disappoints me is Panthro's last few posts contain so many negative and condescending thoughts that I'm quite sure Coach Rob would be disappointed that we've allowed this to go so far with Panthro.

I'm pretty sure if Mr. Nicks (no disrespect because i don't know who he is) were still around he would probably agree that Coach Rob did the most for BLACK COLLEGE FOOTBALL (AND FOOTBALL IN GENERAL). Coach Rob's influence wasn't just on black athletes, but white as well. It wasn't JUST ABOUT SWAC FOOTBALL or even football, it was about life. Living life the way God intended for us to life. This is SO much bigger than a patch on a uniform.

This should not be about what Nicks did or didn't do or when he did it or what other founders did. Nor should there be a comparison. It sounds like Panthro's comments should be directed towards the PV folks who didn't do anything to honor Nicks so that others would know exactly what he did and what he accomplished. PV should be ashamed for allowing an opportunity to pass to NOT honor one of their own when honor was obviously due.

But right now, at this moment, at this time...we are all taking the opportunity to honor Coach Rob like he truly deserves. There are many ways to do it and I hope and pray that they move forward with something that will not only allow us to honor him currently, but will also help us and the generation to follow remember a man as great as Coach Rob.

The direction that this thread took is quite sad and almost depressing actually...:smh:

Let's move forward please...
