Travonte Valentine Leaves LSU After Reportedly Failing Drug Tests, Missing Class

LSU defensive tackle Travonte Valentine is preparing to transfer from the program after reportedly failing multiple drug tests and missing a significant number of classes.

Jim Kleinpeter of the Times-Picayune reports Valentine was late to join the Tigers last fall due to academic issues. He eventually started to practice with the team in October but was absent from spring practice earlier this year.

LSU sports information director Michael Bonnette confirmed the defender's exit to the Times-Picayune.

"He's no longer part of the program; I just talked to Coach (Les) Miles today," Bonnette said.

The report also notes Valentine is expected to head for a junior college, potentially Arizona Western Community College, which is where Trey Lealaimatafao and Clifton Garrett, two other members of LSU's highly touted 2014 class, landed after transferring away from the Tigers.

Valentine was a coveted prospect coming out of high school. He earned a 4-star distinction and ranked as the No. 65 recruit in the country in 2014, according to 247Sports' composite rankings. The outlet noted he received 34 offers before choosing LSU.

Patrick Peterson's brother transferred away too, but his issue was lack of playing time.

It's not that serious dude. There is no malicious intent with the posts about LSU. No one gets personal with these posts. No one ever brings up her son, and him attending LSU has nothing to do with the topics at all. Her son is one of the players that some of these dudes should be trying to follow because he isn't getting in trouble. We all know DCG likes to joke about Les Miles and about SU, so folks do this in response to that. Plus some of us may want to discuss why black athletes get in so much trouble at these PWIs. You are reading way too much into it.
