Tony Hughes sets new recruiting standard at JSU

Hey gotta admire the hustle though. It's never to late to flip a recruit.

The one good thing they've done is offer a lot of 2017 and 2018 recruits to build those relationships. The problem with recruiting kids in MS are the MS JUCO's. If a kid doesn't get an offer from the SEC, they hope for USM, U La-Mo or some FBS. If they don't get that, then the fall to us, but the MS JUCO's often convince them to go there with the chance to get an SEC offer in two years. Sometimes even one year. JUCO's don't really have that presence in LA and AL, so we have to hit those states very hard.

He didn't double sign tho. He just signed with Co-Lin and came to JSU afterwards.

It's the same prospective though. He initially signed with Co-lin but ended up with Jackson State. Reuben Corley double signed he signed with a Juco and Jackson State and actually came to jsu instead of going juco.

Usually when a recruit double signs it's because grades are at issue. Dixon, Heard and Bolden aren't going to double sign. They're headed to emcc because they feel that's the best route to an FBS offer. EMCC and these other jucos are big on selling dreams.

What makes MS JUCOs different from the other surrounding states?

The jucos in AL and LA are not football powers. Not even sure those schools play football.

Iowa, AZ, FL, NY, and many more states have JUCO football. AL has no football playing JUCO programs. GA has only one.

My answer was in reference to great juco programs. Which California is in the top 3 for best juco programs for all sports.

I've never heard of Juco programs from FL and NY.

As others have said, EMCC is a JUCO power house right now (won the national title last year and was #1 this year but that fight with MDCC made them ineligible). MGCCC as well. Even MDCC has won a national title in the past 10-15 years. These programs can sell the recent NFL and big name college players that they have had come through and sell these cats those dreams instead of going to a SWAC school

The largest college system in Mississippi is the Hinds Community College system and it's not even close. MGCCC has like 5 branches.
