While Jemele Hill is correct in what she said. Why doesn't that get bought up when it's women in those positions?

A father is not the cure all but data keeps pointing out something. And how often do the single father get praised versus the single mother?

Why does so much black media exclude the father? Except to yell at black men to be fathers?

She knew he was talking about involved and supportive fathers, yet she purposely chose to inject negatives.
 
We, as a group have to do some serious soul searching: Do we continue to latch on to one party or do we look at the issues and do what is best for us?

They don't need to be mad at Tony Dungy. They need to be mad with the Democratic party strategies that were not able to win Florida and come up with this idea. There is no need to attack Tomy Dungy.

Attack Joe Biden, he hasn't done what he said he was going to do for Black people, " I got your back " and wants to put more money into the police force which is still killing Black people and traumatizing Black women and children. Attack Biden who is not touching qualified immunity.
 
It probably has more to do with the fact that he's being used as a photo op by same idiot who just this week eliminated the voices of Black floridians by eliminating their representation in congress. But let's ignore that fact because some in this thread believe we should jump in bed with these racists.
 
Why didn't the democrats use him for a photo op? The democratic strategists should have beat him to the punch if they really cared. No one can keep saying they care and constantly keep letting their enemy beat them to the punch. The democrats need new political strategists.

They are focusing on Immigrants and LGBT. If they really cared about Black people. Then, black women wouldn't the first to be evicted from their resident.

I am no fan Of DeSantis and understand this for what it is but if Dungy believes in this program then I have no problem with it. Some people are too emotional and believe you have to like people to work with them.

I think you’re minimizing here. I mean, DeSaintis is actively trying to oppress people, has led the charge in pushing the unfounded notion that CRT is taught in schools and his political actions have led to the deaths of untold thousands during the largest health crisis of our time. Dungy overlooking all of that to validate him speaks to just how out of touch he really is.

How does Dungy speaking validate DeSantis? DeSantis gone do what he wants to do. Some people love him because he has the economy booming there and some people hate him over the stuff you named. Dungy speaking will not change that.

So as much help as fathers need in America to hell with the help if it doesn't come from a good person. Is that the sentiment? FYI, the bill received unanimous support in both legislative chambers.

Politicians like DeSantis are why fathers — especially minority fathers — need help in the first place because of the social and economic inequities they’ve created.
He cares so much about supporting fathers that he’s gonna raise their taxes by 20 percent because he’s “getting emotional” over Disney. So yeah, fuck him. Lol

I have heard that argument. I don't buy it from what I have seen. People normally just get pissed at the celebrity for associating with a politician that they don't like.

I will agree to disagree. I am not a big fan of the governor but I see nothing wrong with this particular initiative.

It goes like this guys like DeSantis go after folks like Dungy and take their messages and truths to fit their agenda.
Dungy could have said the same thing and be NOWHERE near DeSantis and this could have happened.

Dungy is not thinking about DeSantis. He is focusing on what he dealt with as a coach and seen. He would have been next to Biden if he create the same program.

Nothing is wrong with the program.
At least until we see the results of it 6-12 months from now.

Because don't we have data that shows black men step up more than any other fathers? So if that is the case I would suspect this benefits those others way more than black fathers-who are already trying and doing work.

Black fathers in Florida are supposed to wait until a politician comes around that is a consensus verified good guy? There is a place and time for spite, but this is not one of them in my opinion.

If it is okay recognize the work Tony Dungy has done for the mission of fatherhood while also understanding that it's not okay to be used as prop by an evil man like DeSantis, then it is okay to recognize the reasoning for signing off on a bill to get the funding despite that same evil man.

I wish more of us were pragmatist. We all really should understand by now the black man has no friends, but instead just permanent interest.
