Tomeka Reed's future at JSU





Coach Reed in her current Professional Journey IS ALL Things JSU! She exemplifies "Bleed The Blue" and our goal of "Challenging Minds and Changing Lives." Within her arena, Ameshya Williams-Holiday is one of her most noted examples Challenging an emotionally torn individual to get up and Rise to the great heights that she has achieved and by doing so Changed her Life! In a similar fashion she reached out to Dayzsha Rogan who was devastated after her dream school, SU, retracted the scholarship that they had offered her for who knows what reason....maybe they desired a taller player?!! Coach Reed again reached out to her and told her that she didn't have to be treated that way and Challenged her to come join her team and be the floor general and run her offense....and well we all know how that worked out!

Congrats Mrs. Williams-Holliday. I think she deserve her own post. It will not be easy to replace her production. Is she the first to be drafted out of the SWAC?

Only five historically Black college and university (HBCU) players have been drafted to the WNBA: Denique Graves (1997), Karen Wilkins (1998) and Andrea Gardner (2002) of Howard, Amba Kongolo of North Carolina Central (2002) and Jaclyn Winfield of Southern (2002). Last season, Langston University’s Asheika Alexander signed a contract with the Minnesota Lynx but was waived during training camp. There are currently no active HBCU players in the league.
