TnSt Football News: 2007

Mike, this has nothing to do with JSU, SU, and Grambling as long as some other team steps up. AAMU has yet to step up. Answer this, if this is all about the Big 3 winning, then why was AlaState not considered a weak champion?

Also, you don't know if it is a down year until the END of the year....maybe by midseason. If you understood what a down year is, you would not be asking that question.
:smh:

TP, you have said repeatedly that because jsu, SU, and GSU weren't competitive last year that the SWAC was down. That's some Bull! This conference has other teams besides the three that I named and those teams have the right to improve. You are making idiotic comments!:smh:

Do you know of him to make any other type of comments?

Find ONE instance where I have said the conference is down because these 3 are not good. No one was happier when AlaState and Alcorn have stepped up and won championships than TP. A down conference is a down conference. Now what I have said is that BCF needs JSU, SU and Gram and this is said from the onnidan board to the meac board. These are not TP's words. Every school can improve but AAMU didn't...you guys keep missing that point and thinking that people are trying to bash you. We really ain't. In fact, I am SURPRISED that so many of you seem to be proud of where your program is. I guess ya'll just don't know any better.

I see you did not answer the question that I posed. Why was no one calling AlaState's 2004 team a weak champion or saying the SWAC was down in 2004. JSU and GSU were both down that year.

Because in your logic, they was playing SU (Remember where I said if those three aren't in the picture the SWACi is all of a sudden down?) and that made it legit for you and whoever else. I guess the SWAC will continue to have down years every time AAMU wins a championship or one of the supposedly lower teir teams win. It makes me no difference. Whoever is on the otherside of the field, my team should be trying to beat the crap out of them. If we win, it was because we prepared for the battle and executed the plan correctly. What your team did was of no concern to us. You lost, so carry your arse and that "L" home to let it marinate.

You blame everything on Hughes and Bell. Well, that's all good, but for a team that supposedly had better talent. You should've just beat teams off talent alone. I guess you wasn't as talented as you say you were, huh?

Re: Four transfers make a quick impact on tnsu defense

Kalvin Baker was a prized transfer last year with a couple of schools fighting for hime (JSU and SCState included). Now he is second string. I think that TNState will have the better offense and defense in this game

NFL scouts like TnSU cornerback

NFL scouts like TSU cornerback
by Mike Organ
Tennessee State doesn?t play at Tennessee Tech until Oct. 11, but already five NFL scouts have called to reserve spots in Tech?s press box.

Scouts are lining up every chance they get to see the Tigers? talented senior cornerback Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie.

At nearly every practice at least two or three NFL scouts show up to check on Rodgers-Cromartie. The Tigers have others who potentially will be drafted in April, such as defensive end Shaun Richardson, but the scouts are most interested in Rodgers-Cromartie because top-notch cornerbacks are hard to find.

They liked what they saw of Rodgers-Cromartie last week. He returned a kickoff 84 yards for a touchdown, which was called back for an illegal blocking penalty. Still, the scouts got to see Rodgers-Cromarite?s blazing speed on the play.

And he knocked down three of Alabama A&M?s passes while also making five tackles.

Secondary Coach Randy Fuller believes Rodgers-Cromartie is a potential first-round pick. If he continues to play like he did last week Fuller could be right.
