Nall. I don't know about all dat darre playboy. Well, maybe the Ocean of this year. I heard'em play it too fast and too slow this year. But as far as the best, TXSU all the way. TnSU get all there credit from what we do in the Ocean. And that's real.

No, Texas Southern played it first.
But, you know what, Texas Southern is always getting songs taken from them. Alcorn stole "Torture" and another song that TXSU played the screwed version of years ago. TXSU also made the "Coming to America" theme popular back when no other band was attempting to play it

Actually Tha Ocean has been playing Groove Me since 1988. And if you've ever heard the REAL song, we play it at the same tempo as the real song.

And as far as I want you, we had that at the beginning of the season. As a matter of fact we passed that out the third week of band camp.

I WANT YOU by Janet Jackson has been in the Ocean's book all season. They've played at pretty much every practice. You're stretching it with that one. Anybody remember Grambling playing "Crazy in Love" by Beyonce' into "Baby Boy"? They didn't start that until the Ocean played it on the field for THEIR dance girls at the Grambling game.

The real tempo of "Groove Me" is much slower than what the Ocean plays. The reason the Ocean doesn't play it at that tempo is because the arrangement played here was meant for drilling. Tenn.State's "Groove Me" is nice. They didn't get that idea from the Ocean and I believe they've been playing since around 88, 89 too.

Everybody basically played the song in 1988 because that is when the song was popular. Tenn. State has not played that song EVERY single year between 88 and 2004. TXSU made that particular song an official old book song for their band when no one else was even giving a dayum about the song anymore. That is what I was saying.

Ye. That's what I'm saying. TxSU Plays it every year; sometimes more than we need to. But hey, it's one of our signature songs. And nobody jamz it like us. Ya dig!

I was in the '88' band and we did not play "groove me", the only guy song we played was 'teddy's jam'. TxSU started playing Groove me under the new 'ocean'. also it seems the tempo the current band has for that song changes every season.

And there it is. Anyway, I was cruising the vault last year and I saw an old Sam Jackson arrangement of "Love is the Key". Did you all play that back then too?

I know PVU played it in 88 at Rice stadium when I was in the band at UAPB. Then in 89 they came back with "My Fantasy" by Guy.

Played the isht out of both of them.

that was in 83. At the time butler didnt believe in repeating tunes the next year unless it was a request by the basketball or football team. Neck used to be only played at basketball games and then it was brought back to football season for a performance and the band hasnt stopped playing it since. The band reallyk needs to play a lot of some of Sam's arrangements, theres a lot of songs back there that most of the bands out there ain't thought about playing that would mess there heads up ! ricky lee's book is "tired".

LOL!!! Not Ricky Lee!!! Ye I feel that though. I'm new school but I'd rather jam the old school stuff. Not all these "stand jamz"(what we call the rap songs) that everybody play too much of now. They are needed to keep the crowd crunk. But sometimes It needs to be all about the bands; with the real music.
