This is how band folks think

DGTM,
Would you pledge with a openly gay dude??? What would say if a openly gay approached you on the yard about joining your frat???

1. When I crabbed my section in the band 2 of my 8 line brothers were homosexual, we still built a bond and are friends to this day. I don't give a damn about their lifestyle because their decisions will not change the amount of my direct deposit 26 times annually.

2. There are gays in every fraternity and sorority, there are gays in every walk of life, they made their decisions in life. If they are positive contributors to society I don't give a damn who they are loving or screwing because it does not affect me.

He is talking about real fraternities and sorrorities :gone:

Those are real. If one marched band you would know it's real, oh it's real even though some aren't incorporated they are real.

I wouldn't necessarily compare crabbing your freshmen year in the band as pledging a frat. Although some aspects maybe similar, I think they are a lot different.

huh?

whats stupid? he said his opinion...after providing context about his dealings with the subject matter.

Are you saying b/c he was in a band that his opinion is stupid?

what exactly is "stupid" in those quotes? is his opinion still stupid even though he's an omega? and lilrj is a kappa...so yeah..i missing your point here....

 no seriously im trying to see your point here

well the fact that they are both in real frats...im trying to see why you focused on them having been in band?

and how the band negates their opinion?

I had no idea that dude was in a real frat until after he responded to my above comments. But if you look closely at what he said on point #1, he is specifically talking about his freshmen/crab year in the band. He hadn't pledge a frat yet. Like I said, how does DCG get it and y'all don't. It's clear that dude is talking about crabbing in the band being similar to pledging a real fraternity.

i looked at point 1 he talked about his experience while "crabbing" his section. then he made a 2nd point in which he directly discussed he view on frats and sororities. when/where exactly did he SAY crabbing the band was similar to pledging?

thats been my question the entire time! oh well....the world may never know...

Lots of people think crabbing and pledging are similar. I've heard it many times from people who have done both. I think the whole idea of pledging the band and band fraternities is stupid, but that doesn't change the fact that some people think they were meaningful experiences.

When two fools touch and agree, stupidity will be in the mist!

You are spouting archaic and asinine comments but I am stupid? You said "pledge" as in an intake process. There are bands that "pledge" harder than some D9 chapters dude. As I said on the other thread, I don't care who they love. Who they f**k doesn't make me nut. You are worried about this kid in the NFL and what that means. Calm down, history shows the most homophobic people are in the closet anyway.

Can ones opinion be wrong or is right regardless of the facts??? Just a simple question.

....but what are the facts? He never said that it was the same but instead used a similar situation to illustrate how there no problem with the two guys in his section. If you want to get technical, the two are the same.....as both are the coming together of individuals to share common belief....a brotherhood.....bond.....fraternity. Some would argue that crabbing the band is more of a brotherhood than a greek organization, as the members of the band have to come together and depend on each other to master their craft and put on a good show. Much like a sports team has to be in unison to win or a military group trains and depends on each other to complete a mission and survive.......whereas, a greek fraternity may only be concerned with social popularity and the scheduling of social events.

Im not sure if this dude has slept at night since that other thread got started... He is in a RAGE about another man sexual preference....

 I apologize for that comment. It wasn't really directed at you, but it should not have been made.

I'm just concerned that you are worried about who this dude is or isn't f*****g. That is just weird in my opinion.

I could careless who that dude is screwing. I just wouldn't want to play football or be in a locker room with that openly gay dude. I'm just being honest. No use to lying.

So yall think me pledging Kappa Kappa Psi was stupid huh? I would like to know what makes pledging the band fraternity stupid. Yall do realize it isn't something that was made up by some HBCU band dude who got an idea it would be cool. Yall do realize that right? Just wondering. It is no less than any other fraternity. Some of yall just have issues with the band and need to let it go. I can tell you right now, joining SU's band in the 80s was probably harder than some cats football teams they had to make. Pledging PSI just took it to another level and the brotherhood I share with my frats go a long way and some that belong to the D9 as well as Psi will tell you their experience in PSI was better because we all shared a common bond. Just saying.

No comment on the gay stuff. Folks can do what they want and folks who were gay have pledged and joined every fraternity and organization known to man. I don't even know what the big deal is. Nothing new. Gays pledged in the 30s 40s 50s 60s 70s 80s 90s and continue to in the 2000s.

Heck no. I know guys who pledged KK PSI and didn't think one minute it was stupid. I was happy for them. I am a huge fan of SOD. Hell I wasn't in the band, but I followed it pretty heavy because I love music and entertainment. If you go back and read the entire exchange, I asked DGTM if he would have pledged with an openly gay dude. That is what started this exchange. Please don't think I'm knocking KK Psi or any band ritual. Me personally don't put them on the level as the other frats. That's just me.

Now your fellow alum said he thought it was stupid.

Gays may have pledged, but they kept their gayness to themselves for the most part.
Seem to be what Styles is saying. Many NFL guys don't want a gay person touching them or in the shower room with them, but due to the probable backlash, most probably are keeping it to themselves.
