Plus, I don't like the idea of college athletes (especially football players being involved in a lengthy postseason, and not being financially compensated for it) Folks have to remember these young people are missing class and study time. Not to mention placing their bodies on the line. It is been revealed that college athletics is a basically a full-time jobs for student-athletes.

I don't care about playoffs or the BCS. I only care about what good for the student-athletes and the member institutions.

The T.V. contracts are just merely a direct affect of the BCS bowls and the potential grand payout of advertising games that people pay top money to see. Removing the BCS bowls and putting in a playoff system will be the first step in "attempting" to level the playing field. In theory, if you only have a limited amount of teams that can participate in the playoffs, you start to remove the coaching carousel that we have started to witness across football. Then you will start to see coaches remain at one school longer. You will also began to see team refocus their energy on building a greater product with emphasis on making it to the playoffs. By simply removing the BCS bowls, you force hundreds of teams back into same boat as all of us...sitting at home after the season is over! :nod: When you remove the greed and excessive money, you remove part of the problem.

There is a point made when speaking of the haves and have nots. The 2k will without a doubt show the capitalism in college football become a controlled conglomerate that is to big to fail so to speak. There is no doubt that we are headed for a 4 conference big school dance. That is where the 2k will turn into 8k in the next 10 years. The law suits are not going to come from smallerschools first but from smaller sports.
There will be a family of a softball player or volleyball player that will eat the NCAA alive when it comes to true cost of attending school. (50 games and traveling from East Coast to Midwest constantly). That is the true threat to this additional compensation. Money generating sport was not the cause of the demand for stipends it was scholarship falling short of true cost, but they have ok'd giving money to only football and basketball.
 
If college athletic departments can pay players, then they can damn sure pay taxes too

Technically, any portion of any scholarship, athletic or otherwise, that isn't used for tuition (not including room and board) and books is already taxable.
