The turnaround: Odums at SU & why Stump didn't work out?

Who in the hell said his seat was hot? Swac title in 13, west champs in 14 and a few plays from going in 15. No his seat is nowhere near hot.last year, despite the average year we had, we still were in a position to go back a 3rd straight year. And i remember everyone saying he needed to hire a dc and he did that. Nobody mentioned hot seat just stfu

Now u know HIM is just like some female. He/she will have the last word. LOL!!!

Is it really that turned around tho? They had one good year, then a steady decline. Let's see if this year is real first.....

One SWAC team definitely went on a SUDDEN decline after Coach Odums beat them in the SCG. They went from the top of the pack to the bottom of the pack overnight and haven't recovered since.

Remember that the interim season (2012)
Worm beat Jackson, FAMU and Grambling. I think only Worm and Pete beat those three in the same season. Those wins and the promising outlook for 2013 gave Worm some cache and Southern took the interim tag off of him.

.

I seem to recall that nobody else wanted the job... so they gave it to Worm....

This topic has nothing to do with JSU. I was talking about the decline of SU from 2013-2015.

But this topic has everything to do with Coach Odums and how he was able to put a certain school in SUDDEN decline mode from the top of the pack to the bottom of the pack. A person can't talk about the success of Coach Odums without JSU being in the conversation.

What? Didn't we go to back to back SCG's ? We lost last season to the top 3 teams in the SWAC and beat everyone else. 2 of the games we gave away. Alcorn was the only one they just came out and whooped us. And since Worm has been there. He has not lost to anybody outside of those teams. For Gram and PV, last year was their first win against Big Worm.

Spady wanted that job and we picked Worm over him. We had the same folks who always apply to HBCU jobs. We told Jenkins to kick rocks because he was bs-ing around trying to secure a FBS job and wanted us to wait a moment. Some folks asked for too much money. Like they had been coaching and winning championships for years. LOL.

This is what got Stump fired...

Decline? Man you got to be kidding me. Back to back SCGs and last year being the first full year of Worm with no SCG? I guess Ohio State was in decline last year too. Since they didn't make the Big Ten title game hence no playoffs. This is your logic.

Like I said NOBODY... lol

Also, did SU decline or improve? They went to the SWAC SCG and won... went to the SCG and LOST, and they they ended up 3rd in the division... is that NOT a yearly decline?

LOL. Nah. Stump was like Les. Hardheaded about offense.

About like Spady. Yall were smart enough to dodge that bullet. Our administration fell for the banana in the tailpipe TWICE, with him AND Sameka Randall.

So um, during Worm's tenure ... did Jackson State decline or improve?

Southern 2012: 4-7 (Stump fired after 2nd game; Worm coached team to 4-5 record)
Jackson State 2012: 7-5; East Co-champs; lost to Pine Bluff in SCG:

Southern 2013: (Worm's first season as head coach): 9-4; West champs; beat Jackson State in SCG or SWAC title
Jackson State 2013: 8-4; East champs; lost to Southern in SCG; fired Rick Comegy and hired OMJ

Southern 2014: 9-4; West champs; lost to Alcorn in SCG (Austin Howard started as true freshman QB)
Jackson State 2014: (OMJ first season): 5-7

Southern 2015: 6-5
Jackson State: 2015: 3-8; OMJ fired; Tony Hughes brought in

Southern 2016: 2-2; only losses to FBS teams
Jackson State: 2016: 1-3; losses to one FBS team (UNLV); annual ass-kickings at the hands Tennessee State and Grambling (last year from the boycott penalty)

So that mean's Worm is 30-20 to date (.600 winning percentage); two OUTRIGHT division titles; two SCG apperances and a conference championship since he took over...
Jackson State through three coaches to date is 24-27 (0.4705 winning percentage); one OUTRIGHT division title; one backdoor shared division title; and TWO SCG losses....in fact JSU has been a sub.-500 club since beating Pine Bluff in Sept. 2014.
