The store that refused to sell Oprah a handbag...

Nah. They have our communities marked as Special Economic Zones and money is set aside to invest in and rebuild these communities. It’s just that Asians and Latinos are the ones getting the money.

But, who is to blame? My wife said something real true. If black people started own gas stations and Hotels like the Indians. We would have every local, state, and federal watching us.

But, until, we start practicing ownership with our children. The cycle will continue forever.

We had those things...gas stations, hotels, grocery stores, etc. until we were convinced integration was better. We were convinced that everything we had was inferior to what white folk had so we abandoned or were burned out of (see Black Wall Street, Rosewood, ect) all we had. We were doing very well economically. Once we were "allowed" to eat with white folk we abandoned our establishments...and still do today.

Correct. We were the biggest loser in integration. But, I guess, we missed that memo.

The sad part is we still keep looking for them to accept us. I guess, that's why they go buy Alabama gear. Man, those crackers fought tooth and nail to keep you out that school.

Same story in Texas.

This is such a deep topic. I hate that in 2018 we still have so many of us who don't understand that slaves were made. No one else in the history of the world has been treated like us. They hate us but they don't want to let us go and don't want us to connect with anyone else. We are still captives here, only the form of captivity has changed.
When we call eachother coons and agents, because we disagree on methodology, we help our enemies keep us divided.

I too remember when we had all those things. And you are right, with the advent of integration, most of those businesses disappeared.

They told us our schools were inferior but our high schools produced people who went on the be to teachers, doctors, lawyers, judges, architects, business owners, etc. The foundation for education is laid in the formative years (kindergarten through elementary)...junior high and beyond merely build on the foundation already laid and college puts on the finishing touches.

We have got to stop believing others are our salvation. History has proven they do not want to be around us (white flight, gentrification, private clubs, etc) yet we still feel if we "associate" with them and "live" around them we have some how come up in the world.

Well, you know that we have to move on up, to the East side, to that deluxe apartment in the sky.

I know we have kind of gotten off topic in this thread. But then again maybe not. Maybe what we have been discussing all ties in together. LOL!!!
