Look at the year's Grambling has won.....Southern played Prairie View the weekend before on both years and found themselves in competitive games. In 1992, SU won by 7 or so points over PV in Houston before a rain storm and in 2001, PV went up to SU had SU on the ropes....

SU lost both of the classic games the next weekend...........

they are trying to avoid the games for historical purposes....any "real" team could play straight through....that's why they want to avoid the 1-AA playoffs, they would have to play straight through...
