You asked a question, I answered.

Again, I could care less who played what. Especially in 99'. :retard:

99??? Are you kidding me??

Oooookkkkk.

Seriously, my years in the band at JSU was 81-84.

So honestly, I don't have a clue what is being played now. :)

So if I sounded harsh, I apologize. Maybe you could pose your question a little better next time. J-Stank is not an endearing term. ;)

THANK YOU!!!.. Finally a JSU grad that keeps it real! I try to stay away from threads like this, because some people just don't want to hear the truth....

One thing I have noticed about JSU old heads (Haughton/Taylor era) is that they are more diplomatic than those that played in a Liddell directed version of the Sonic Boom. Those that played in a Liddell directed version of the Sonic Boom are more combative, confrontational and defensive; after hearing people say "the Boom isn't as good as it used to be" for over fifteen years has affected then mentally, they rarely admit to the truth.

That's ANYBODY from ANY SWAC school in the latter years (90s-present)! All the "younger ones" are more combative and defensive. Just read all the posts from the people from the different swac schools who marched during those years.

The more seasoned ones are more diplomatic, because they have grown past those stages. They don't let things worry them... esp. stuff like this. It's not worth the argument when people are still going to believe what they want to believe. It's called wisdom!

I thought the same thing when I read that post, but was too lazy to reply.

If you were to go by every old head on the SWAC page no band is what they used to be, so why does that matter? There are still bands out there that are good at what they do (SU, JSU, & FAMU). The fact that people are always trying to remind these schools that they are not what they used to be is a moot subject. Evidence shows that not many bands on this planet can still contend with them. I remember the days of when halftime lasted past the regulation time because each band had long arse hype shows. I also remember bands blowing in the 5th until the lights in the stadium went off, but those days are over and bands directors must learn to be creative in 6-7minutes. Just because so much has changed doesn't mean these bands aren't powerhouses.

I agree besides I really don't see what the big deal is. At the end of the day, it's still SU and JSU that gets the respect. In my opinion, it's not a matter of just how we judge these bands but at the opinion of those outside of our conference. When bands like this travel, the other fans are the ones sending out the shout outs in the newspapers and the internet. When the other bands in the swac take on the powerhouses like FAMU, TnST, and BCC and handle up, then and only then will they be categorized as powerhouses.

This comes with maturity. When these two learn to have respect for each other, then and only then will others follow suit.

And from some of the comments in this forum...that's not about to happen anytime soon.

This stuff over here is mild compared to the other SWAC-related site.

When I said 90s-present, I was really referring to the late 90s. Sorry I didn't make that more clear.

Not accepting that until I get to 40... even though we used to call my step-dad that on the bball court when he was 34-35. lol

Uh huh... you's an old head/old school! :D

...and, what you can also tell from this post...is whether it's the 80's, 90's, or present....the females still run things in the Boom.

Luv the BBB.

You could have kept that.

All of what is being said is fine and dandy.. BUT when people that actually STILL follow their programs "regularly" and attend and watch MORE than just the big games, those opinions will be more detailed. That doesn't mean you are mature or immature. It only means you have more to go off of when certain questions are ask (You have more of an answer).. Respect is something you have for a program that does their craft well and have respect for you, I respect every hard working bandsmen and program.

Now if a specific question is ask I and others that "STILL" follow what going on in the band world just as if we were still in school will have a more detailed opinion. Others who just wait for the SU/JSU, Bayou Classic(SU folk), Alcorn/JSU classic(JSU folk) and HC will only have a BROAD opinion on many matters. The others that follow these bands MORE than just "high profile" games will usually give more of a contraversial responce...

Because you don't have much to say and don't have anything negative to say about another program don't make you wiser... Just means you don't follow these programs as much as other do, which in turn means you aren't as informative as you once was when you was in college marching....

To prove Crit responce wrong, you have a bandsmen that crab one year after you on that other SWAC-related(didn't know we refer to Swac Fans like that) that is worst than ANY poster on there....

PV has one that crabbed in 93 that ranks right up there with him.....

Uhh...yeah I guess. :|

BUT(as you said), what about those that follow their respective programs, but make a conscience choice not to continue to debate with another's personal OPINION.

*looking for that certain someone to come and find fault with my opinion* :look:

Hmmmm.... sometimes you just gotta know when to walk away Bro!

In other words...two people looking at the same thing will always have a different perspective somewhere along the line. You just to be able to accept and respect it.

Diplomacy...it will come. Just keep on living! :wavey:
