Everyone knows that SU owned the SWAC for years. From what I've seen, Alabama State has been giving them a run for their money for the past 2 years. Is this the year State will take over the SWAC, or is SU just letting them build up confidence before they snatch it away from them.:saw:

Now why is it that I suddenly feel ignorant? I did not know that at all.

No one as dominated the SWAC with any consistency EVER.

Bama State in the stands is average, and on the field i am just not buying them...AAMU is the better BAMA BAND to me and MILES is more entertaining than BAMA STATE..BAMA STATE tries to be just like SU in the stands its unreal..maybe find an identity, and run with it...no one is more consistant than SU...okay maybe the other Lousiana school is consistant, but we talking consistantly good, not consistantly GRAMBLING!!

We tried to tell them cats that but they swear we're lieing cause we're arrogant.

Yes SU is a very nice band, but I would be lying to myself to say through the years that they have owned the Swac....that is truly a matter of preferance. Power yes they have but that doesnt make them own the Swac. ASU on the other hand, i truly agree with whoever made the statement to say that they need to find their identity first. Reason I say that is because they are trying to outpower them and losing focus on what their own program is about. However, I do agree with the person who said that the Swac is not owned by no one particular band. Just hasnt happened yet. True you have a band that stays on top alot but not all the time in my opinion but from the time I have actually paid attention which is from 90-till present, no one band has remained on top each year. Not smack, just MY OPINION.

Again its a matter of preference. Some say SU, some say Grambling and some say JSU but in my opinion its a matter of preferance.

IN MY OPINION

SU in some ways
GSU in some ways
JSU in some ways

thats why I say no one band. Its hard to use other schools because some of them are just coming out and up from what I have seen.

sorry but thats just how I see it, no smack intended

So what years are you talking about ?? Because in the 60's & 70's SU owned the SWAC. :saw:

Im being very honest with myself. Its a matter of preference. I can't speak much about the times before the 90's to present because I dont know much about them or should I say I wasnt at any of the games since then. But in my opinion, It would be SU, GSU and JSU. Its truly a matter of preference. Power just doesnt force a decision for me. Just my opinion man.

Its not about power. When you people from other schools which band in the swac is the most consistent, at the top of their list is SU. Not GSU or JSU. No disrespect to any program but thats the truth. Don't take my word, but the word of the competiton.

And that is fine coming from most bandsmen, but also when you ask people from other schools or people who are not even in the band you will get the answer other answers. No lie, I read alot of comments from threads and I see alot of people confusing Power with consistent. There is a big difference. I like SU about how I like GSU and JSU but I will not say GSU over SU or SU over JSU or JSU over SU or likewise just because one possess more power than the other. If I did then it would certainly be SU or if i said sounding really nice majority of the times on arrangements then I would say JSU, etc. But in this case, consistent falls within those three bands and as I stated before its a preference of what you like. Also, I read alot of threads from alot of people man and alot of them have so much hatred for one program till they just blind themselves whole heartedly. I am not afraid to admit that another program is good or they have slipped. Not arrogant about anyone program at all. Thats why I say those have to be the most consistent I have seen thus far. Not saying that none have slipped at all because in my opinion all three have slipped before. But I can not just say its SU.

I can truely say that the SWAC is the most competitive conference from top to bottom hands down but no HBCU besides FAMU has been as consistent as SU IMO.

See you read my post blindly like I knew you would. When you mention a band thats consistent what are your categories? To me its marching, music played, field shows and just the overall performance. To me Southern is the most consistent we are entertaining, appealing to the ear and eye and we're disciplined. JSU sounds good on some ballads though they can use some work on their field shows but overall stand performance is good. I'm sorry but dont take this the wrong way but Grambling is garbage. They sound bad and thats the fundamental thing of any band is to sound good. So if you have a good dance routine but you sound bad then you are garbage. If you're hype in the stands but you sound bad then you're garbage. If you have the tighest field show ever known to man but you sound bad then you're still garbage. It's not a matter of style when it comes down to Grambling they just flat out sound bad. FAMU has a totally different style from SU but they sound good. Same with JSU. Grambling is not on that level. Sorry they aren't. It's not a matter of preference but being honest about a program. There are a lot of things Grambling has to take care of before being mentioned as a top band in the SWAC Conference.

It never ceases to amaze me how college-educated adults keep asking the same questions (over and over) KNOWING they won't get a consistent answer....

These threads gets started time after time after time. And you ought to know there's never going to be one consistent answer. The SU folks will always say SU. The JSU folks will make their case, and everybody else jumps on one of their bandwagons, or trashes Grambling or makes the argument that Alabama Stae, AAMU, TexSouthern or UAPB are on the come-up......

Getting an unified, undisputed answer to this question is like trying to negotiate peace between the Israelis and Palestinians....

It just ain't happening....

:shame:

I agree 100% TM
I would always say that when it comes to the swac the heavyweights are JSU and SU. There are things that I like about both bands. I have to admit, I don't get excited over too many swac bands, but I have been impressed with PVU and TXSouthern as of late. At the end of the day, I want to see a battle between SU and JSU or FAMU. Think about it, as much as people hate on SU and JSU; you still get excited to see them come to your city! I'm sorry but when is the last time you rushed to purchase tickets to see MVSU, Alcorn, Bama State, AAMU, UAPB, or GSU? Keep it real people!

I agree. JSU had a consistently good band from the early 1970's to 1990. Alcorn had a very good band in 1995, Alabama State was good in 1997, but year to year Southern has been the most consistent band in the SWAC.

 @ that college-educated statement.

So how many people do you think will skip over this post just to prove it right?

This is one forum that is redundant in topics..... :smh:
