I am not sure why this subject is “confusing” to some. But it’s always good to shed light on any misunderstanding. I am with Cumba; individuals are responsible for their own actions [read and study]. I am glad this was mentioned, because I taught Sunday school, Sunday and the subject was “Making ourselves accountable to God” 1 Peter 1:13-17. I told the class, whatever we want to or not, but when we were Baptized, we made ourselves accountable to God and we are responsible for our [individual] actions.
Now, if a preacher can convince a member to give more than God requires, they are following the man and not the plan {God’s word}. Honestly, that’s what’s wrong with a lot of members; they are so trusting in the preacher instead of God. No lie! I love giving, it makes me feel good as a Christian [not perfect] and that I am in the position to help someone else.
We just started a program called “The Prince and Princess” an adult have to adopt a younger person for a month and “do something special for them” and at the end of the month we are having a banquet. I am really looking forward to this.
The young man I have is from a single parent home, as we were talking I discovered he and his cousin has never been fishing or to a football game. Being a TSU Graduate, they are going to get sick of TSU games and fishing.
Does anyone have a men’s program and what are some of the activities you are involved in outside of the church?
