The Passion of the Christ

So what does that make us? He did say that we were his brothers and sisters, right? Did he not also say that we could be greater than him, if we only had a very small amount of faith?

That makes us saved, & joint heirs to the kingdom with Him. ? Titus 3:7

Did he not also say that we could be greater than him, if we only had a very small amount of faith?
I don?t think Jesus said that we would be greater than Him if we had faith. However, you may be thinking about John 14:12 when He said ?greater things than this shall ye do?. Greater here is not talking about better, it?s talking about volume.

Example: On earth, if Jesus went to Peter?s house, he was at Peter?s house only. If He went to Matthew?s house, He was Matthew?s house only. His power was displayed in one place, at one time, because He was one man.

Nowadays, He?s in all Christians everywhere. That means that He can now do all over the world (through us) what He could only do in one town by himself, as a man. We?re doing greater (not better, but more) things now, than what He did on earth because He's working through more men + women to show His power + love, which is greater than just one man, like back then.

So that's the 'Greater.'

thank you Bluedog

because people are spinning and twisting and hemmin' and hawin' does not mean that i am posting just to get attention - i'm posing questions so i can get legitimate answers

Do you really want legitimate answers or do you want something that you can pick apart like you are doing now?

exhibit Y...

exhibit X...

Hassan, your best bet is to pray to God and ask HIM for you answers, cause you really dont want legitimate answers from some of us. HE can tell you anything you need to know. And HE will, if you ask HIM in sincerity and not without an agenda like you're doing some of us.

Hassan, can you understand this?

"(2) By this you know the Spirit of God: (3) every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in flesh is from God; and every spirit that does not confess Jesus is not from God; and this is the spirit of the antichrist, of which you have heard that is coming, and now it is already in the world."

"(5) They are from the world; therefore they speak as from the world, and the world listens to them. (6) We are from God; he who knows God listens to us; he who is not from God does not listen to us. By this we know the spirit of truth and the spirit of error."

1 John 4: 2,3,5,6

Now Hassan, can you comprehend this? I'm sure some of my brothers and sisters can.

ok, so Jesus comes in flesh FROM God

i believe that

what i have a problem with is when people try to say that Jesus came in the flesh AS God

*sure i have an "agenda" - i ask questions and i get all sorts of reactionary negativity in lieu of answers

is that because folks dont HAVE the answers?

(btw, i ask God all sort of questions all of the time - He knows that i am inquisitive ... of course, He DID create me)

so because Jesus was flesh, he died - now tell me again how someone who is eternal dies?

it sure doesnt

makes you wonder huh? [/B]

"Father into thy hands I commit my spirit"

He gave up his ghost...

Hassan, do this help?

"(8) For the words which Thou gaves Me I have given to them; and they received them, and truly understood that I came forth from Thee, and they believed that Thou didst send Me."

"(11) And I am no more in the world; and yet they themselves are in the world, and I come to Thee. Holy Father, keep them in Thy name, the name which Thou hast given Me, that they may be one, even as We are."

"(20) I do not ask in behalf of these alone, but for those also who believe in Me through their word; (21) that they may all be one; even as Thou Father, art in Me, and I in Thee, that they also may be in Us;
that the world may believe that Thou didst send Me."

John 17: 8,11,20,21

Hassan, this is the High Priestly Prayer that Jesus prayed before He was betrayed by Judas. Before He went into the garden to pray alone. You must read the entire 17th chapter to get an understanding.

Ben'gal

i will read the entire passage for the exact reason you suggested: full context

especially since i am already seeing things differently from how you are

i am nothing if not fair, so i will refrain from posting my comments on what you posted until i can read (give me a few hours please)

"Father into thy hands I commit my spirit"

that sounds like someone speaking to one that is not the same as one

"I am giving to you..."

versus

"I am giving to myself..."

*now i'm going to work on Ben'gal's request

Ok Hassan, if that wasnt clear enough. Let's shorten it for you.

"(1) In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. (2) He was in the beginning with God. (3) All things came into being by Him, and apart from Him nothing came into being that has come into being. (4) In Him was life, and the life was the light of men."

John 1: 1-4

And the reason I underlined the above portion was that it was underlined in my bible. Is it underlined in yours?

Ben'gal

it was not a question of me not understanding - i'm just honoring the following request that you made:

*i understand it and i am ready to comment on it right now but since you asked me to read the 'entire ... chapter'...

also, regarding:

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

i dont have a problem with it - in fact, that is what i believe

*no, my Bible does not have the underlines - none of my Bibles have needed any reading and comprehension aids since i was in the second grade

When I pray, I just begin with, "Dear God....." but where and when do we need to use Jesus' name because I don't wanna leave him out? At the end I say, "In Jesus' name I pray....Amen"

The same exact thing happen to me when I pray. Hmmmm:confused:

People didn't believe that a man could live a sinless life here on earth. God came down in the flesh(human form) as Jesus to show them that it could be done. ;)

Therefore putting us under a new covenant, which is Jesus Christ. And if you don't believe that, then you are practically saying that the GOD you serve is lying.

So, are you calling GOD a lie?

hassan,

do you believe there is a Father?

Jesus was sin-free? I'm not voicing my direct opinion, I know someone reading a book now on how another person believed different. There was alleged passion between Jesus and Mary Magdeline (sp check)...Gonna get the full story before I say any more about that.

Oh ok.

I was just wondering if yours had that part underlined. Now I must go back and research why my bible chose to underline that part and emphasis that. *Interesting huh?*

*Be back*

Not taking sides, but reading some of these posts do seem like contradictions. I'm just sitting back looking for which one can best clarify the God/Jesus deal...
hassan, try to check out the online Bible, you can look for scriptures there for reference.

We all have questions. We are human after all. I can't speak for everyone, but I question my faith all the time. It's an ongoing battle. I know what God has done for me, yet I continue to sin. In my heart, I don't want to, but I am weak, as are all of us.

I believe He wants us to question ourselves and seek answers. In this way we become closer to Him.

No offense to my comrades on here, especially the clergy, but no man or woman has all the answers. God leaves it up to each individual to seek his or her own personal relationship with Him.

I only hope to be worthy to spend eternity with Him and learn the answers to all my questions....
