The Passion of the Christ

My thoughts

I can only speak for myself as to why I want to see this movie. As with other movies, TV shows about Christ has always interested me. I try my best everyday to walk in the fruits of the spirit, but I fall short, but I know God gives me brand new mercies everyday.

I remember when the Jesus movie came on TV and it helped in renewing my love and relationship I want with him. It renewed my interest in finding out for myself what happened.

I am sure Mel Gibson will make a lot of money off of this and retailers will also, but my heart tells me that if this movie brings at least one person closer to Christ, or helps them in the renewing of their mind, body, and soul then all is good.

Even if this movie is not 100% accurate, I think it may cause those that truly want to know about him to really establish a personal relationship with him. Those that go just out of curiosty may also come to him.

I am a visual person, so this movie will enlighten me on what I have read or already know, if not I will look it up and read it.

Now, putting all the Hollywood and the fact that the language was in Latin...What else keeps from seeing the movie? If it's personal, just say so, so I will stop trying to understand your excu...I mean, reasons:p for not wanting to see the movie...And what does false prophets have to do with the movie?

keep in mind: I'm not trying to start an argument...Just open for discussion. Hoping you're not getting offended by my questions

No, I am not getting offend. I actually like the way you present an argument. You seem like a very intelligent young lady. I must admit I will eventually see the movie. I just don?t like people getting caught up in Hollywood?s point of view. When it comes to religion everyone wants to be a scholar. I just believe that having a relationship with Christ is special and I think that only thru prayer an understanding you will get to know him. If a movie brings someone to Christ it is all good just make sure you get the guidance and understanding thru prayer from him. I just don?t like the idea of another Jim Jones following.

how is Jesus supposed to be "God" and still taste death?

Are you saying that God is not eternal?

Or are you saying that Jesus is not really God?

Because isn't God eternal?

Yet how can God, who is eternal, taste death which nullifies immortality?

Please explain...

THE TRUTH SHALL SET US FREE.

If one does not get to the root of a problem, it is very hard to solve that problem. As long as we continiue to accept this "white wash" we will continue to accept the status that Europeans have placed on us. No matter how much we talk about loving Jesus, we cannot follow him in TRUTH, which is what he was revolutionary about, if we accept Satan's lie.

In 2004, there should be an uproar, over this movie and Gibson's TRUTH, from the original people. This is a slap in the face of Jesus and the TRUTH which he loved and taught.

Hassan,

Jesus was God in the flesh.
God is eternal.
Due to God having a consistent and unchanging nature and unchanging ways, He used himself in the flesh of a man (Jesus, fully divine and fully human) because a man, (Adam), was responsible for the separation in relationship of God and man.

God/Jesus

I was up last nite thinking about that in my bed til about 2:00 am....I'm not sure if I missed the explanation on God and Jesus....

When I pray, I just begin with, "Dear God....." but where and when do we need to use Jesus' name because I don't wanna leave him out? At the end I say, "In Jesus' name I pray....Amen"

Haven't seen the movie, but the Trinity In One concept has always confused me.

If Jesus said "Father, forgive them for they know not what they do", I would think that would indicate that God and Jesus are not one in the same.

ok, so then how did God (who is eternal) "taste death"?

LadyLuck, i was the same way

i never prayed to Jesus, I never prayed to the Virgin Mary, I never prayed to the saints - i prayed to God

which is how it should be (what do the X Commandments tell us about the Oneness of God and that we shall have no other, nor worship no other ... )

God didn't die, Jesus died. And He rose again, saying "death where is thy sting" !!!!
Also Hassan read John 14:6-21

LL,
*short version* The scripture says that you can't come unto the Father except by Jesus. John 14:6, but read the whole chapter

We would not have these problems with the Bible if Europeans did not feel that they had to put their mark on everything.:redhot:

I think it is time for a new thead on propituation.

All,
Please do not forget who Jesus is. He is our Propituation, our perfect sacrafice. That is what he did on the Cross. That is the reasons why we pray in the "Name of Jesus" but we pray to God. He, Jesus, is our all-sufficient savior.

Yes, Jesus is God. Yes, Jesus is the Holy Spirit. Yes God is the Holy Spirit.

Jesus came to us as flesh. His flesh had to die inorder to be our propituation. It is because of this propituation, we can have a holy relationship with God. (*New thread to discuss this further.*)

I believe this thread is about to get deep. This is the reasons why I like the separate these threads.

We are no longer talking about a movie but Jesus and what did he do for us. As well as the concept of the trinity. The word trinity does not appear in the bible but the concept is defined or laid out. That is 2 new threads.

Not true. The problem with the Bible is we are trying to lean to our own understanding.

docmump,

I know this, you know this and so do alot of others.

If some truly didn't know this, then I would be more than gracious to expand on it.

But for those that know, but just DON'T want to believe, then the issue becomes moot.

People are being told, so when MY LORD asks me did I tell others about HIM, I can truly say yes! Therefore, removing the blood from my hands.....;)

It's up to everyone to make a choice. 'Choose you this day whom you will serve, but as for me and my house....WE WILL SERVE THE LORD!'

"Study to show thy shelf approved..."

There is a difference between understanding and arrogance.

Doc, I have to agree with you on this. People always tend to find something that they can dispute. If you say the sky is blue, they will say something that is totally opposite and then go into trying to justify it. Some people havent even grasp the concept of "His thoughts are not our thoughts and His ways are not our ways. Far as the heavens are higher than the earth. So are His ways higher than our ways, and His thoughts than our thoughts."

People will make a discussion about which heaven is being referred to and what ways is being implied. Then you may have some that may ask a silly question like, "So are you saying God has some imperfect ways?"

:shame:

When all they have to do is ask Him. "You have not because you ask not." And that just doesnt mean "materialistic" things. :shame:

y'all post contradictions and clarification is asked for because of the contradictions

what is given in reply? more contradictions

I like coming over here to read interesting posts, but I rarely post here. One reason is I find that alot of times, some people ask questions or post replies to get a certain response. They are not trying to honestly seek out answers, they just want you to make them believe or make you believe something. When we have the hardest time making ourselves to even do right. It would be nice to see if we could just discuss situations and testimonies. And if you dont believe it, then so be it; Praise God. And if you do, then so be it; Praise God. In the end, God gets all the praise anyhow.

i left my copy of the Bible at home - please post what is written therein

The scripture says that you can't come unto the Father except by Jesus.

so one comes to the Father by Jesus as if Jesus is a means and not an end

hmmmm....

the contradictions build....

where in the Bible is "propituation" written?

or is that some pretentious word that some vainglorious "theologian" invented as part of his seminary studies on a term paper?

Jesus came to us as flesh. His flesh had to die inorder to be our propituation. It is because of this propituation, we can have a holy relationship with God.

so because Jesus was flesh, he died - now tell me again how someone who is eternal dies?

The word trinity does not appear in the bible

it sure doesnt

makes you wonder huh?

Did I read you left your Bible at home?:rolleyes:
Rom 3:23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;
Rom 3:24 Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus:
Rom 3:25 Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God;

1Jo 2:2 And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for our's only, but also for the sins of the whole world.

1Jo 4:10 Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.

No, it doesn't. I understand the concept of the trinity.

Did you read BB's post when he stated that some post in order to get responses. At first, you were discrete about it but now it just plain obvious.

God loves TRUTH AND KNOWLEDGE, this is why we are to STUDY.

The more you tinker with THE TRUTH, the more you move away from it.

Well I'm going to be (for the lack of a better term) devils advocate. I can't seem to find the word Propituation in the bible and I haven't see anybody answer hassan question.

Let me state I'm a Christian always have been and probably always will be, but I don't toy with the bible nor do I follow every new clich?s some TV preacher makes up.

Ok I got it, it was spelled wrong.......

propitiation
SYLLABICATION: pro?pi?ti?a?tion
PRONUNCIATION: AUDIO: pr-psh-shn KEY
NOUN: 1. The act of propitiating.
2. Something that propitiates, especially a conciliatory offering to a god.

1) Just saw 'Passion of the Christ.' That was a good movie. Very real.

2) Co-sign docmump and springs posts. Jesus was God in the flesh.

3) If Jesus wasn't God, He deserves and Oscar!;)
