The Oprah Winfrey Show on Smart Women on "Stupid Girls"

Seems like Pink maybe hating a little bit. She's picked an agenda and is riding it to get her pockets on SWOLE.

Paris and Lindsey ain't too dumb...they know what works for them and they're riding it all the way to the bank.

You're so right. Pink is trying to re-establish her relevance by picking on girls she assume won't retaliate.

I disagree - Pink is bringing up a good discussion, I wish someone would do that about rap music videos and the way black women are portrayed. It?s so sad that young women in this country think its ?COOL? to be stupid or dumb down themselves just to be accepted by men or society.

KUDOS to PINK.

I agree! :nod2: I think Pink brought up a very interesting point about the way society, women--in general--portray themselves this day in age!

I think was Pink was really trying to say is that often times women that seem to be smart and think smart are overlooked by those who act dumb to maintain a certain image! :smh: No longer do most women uphold the values and principles of 20 years ago. Now it's just who can dress the best, look the part, and act the part all the while losing their real self! :shame:

The point was...dumb blondes are in.

They want to act dumb and horny to get a boy's attention.

I like Pink but she is biting off of (my fantasy mistress) Reese Witherspoon's platform. Reese was on Oprah about a year ago talking about the dumb blonds who ACT dumb but are really not. She stated that women have worked too hard to get to where they are for the dumb blonde syndrome to now be cool.

I like dumb blondes so I don't care either way.

Do you want your children to grow up with dumb blonde ambitions? Thats what the show was about, not you as an adult.

Well I know so many to name, but I guess I can't name me since I'm 47 and I didn't make W~'s list, but I would like to list, without giving their actual names, 5 African American women who are under 30 and leading the Class of 2006 at Southern University Law Center.

Smart women who 'bout to make dat BANK! :hat:

Paris Hilton, Lindsay Lohan and Jessica Simpson are all millionaires. Having a degree doesn't make you smart, it just means you can recite what's in book.

Being millionaires don't make them smart that just makes them rich. The 3 people you named got their start cause their mothers and fathers pushed them into their field.

Paris Hilton is famous, because she's an heiress to the Hilton (Hotel) empire and she just likes the spotlight. She hasn't worked for anything.

Hopefully my children won't grow up to be dumb anything...but hey if a blonde is inherently dumb...:D

I can. I can name plenty who aren't even close to 40 yet!

Myself, 29
Tammy, 29
Lori, 29
Michelle, 30
Harriet, 30
Tarah, 29
Lynn, 33
Fontreia, 28
Kendra, 29

80 percent of those girls have their master's degrees, are homeowners and got real careers.

just because you have a master degree doesn't make you smart, if you know what I mean.

Go back and read my post, #8.

I listed their qualities, not the reason I think they are smart. They are smart on their own and not because of a paper. That master's degree is a credit to their achievements.

Wasn't Pink dancing around in her drawers a few years ago in that Lady Marmalade video? Now she's dissing girls who are doing the same exact thing.....hhhhhmmmmmmmmmmmm

I don't see Pink's statements as nothing more than pure hate. Plain, & simple.

Let's be real, women are always going to get a rap in entertainment. Whether they're acting like dumb blondes, selling sexually enticing music, dressing sexy, taking roles in movies that seem demeaning, it won't stop.

Halle Berry won an Oscar for Best Actress, the character she played was a down on her luck mother, who'd lost her husband, son, job, and house all in the same week, and fell in love with a racist who just so happened to be her husbands executioner. Yet, after winning the Oscar, Hollywood did what they always do, and capitalized of what made that woman famous; which in Halle's case was her beauty, and sexiness. Instead of giving her a more serious role, they put her sexy arse in a leather cat suit, and put a whip in her hand.

The true essence of being smart to me, is finding out what you're good at, doing it, and accomplishing all of your goals legally.

If people think Jessica Simpson is dumb, then why not play off of it? They think she's dumb anyway, so why not do what she did, and get rich off of it? Not a dumb move to me at all. She got into entertainment to be a star, and that's what she is, like it, or not. She has a recording contract, commercial endorsements, and a movie career, as well as having a television show. Not too dumb if you ask me, seems like she got exactly what she wanted.

I tell you what though, she'd have to work twice as hard to make people think she's smart, and no matter how much she proves people wrong, at the end of the day, they'll still think she's dumb, and paid somebody to coach her.

Pink needs to get her some business, and stop hating on another woman's success. This is funny, because she didn't have no problem with starting her career trying to "act" black, because it was the cool thing to do for up, and coming white artist in the music bid'ness. Contradiction is a helluva drug.

NICE

I don't know Pink's motive, but don't write-off the point she is making. Thankfully, my 17 year-old has her parents' values and is not particularly influenced by the leading young icons of her day. The vast and overwhelming majority of her peers are and the personnas of Lohan, Hilton, and video girls are a tremendously strong influence.

Hate to tell you this , but wait until she goes to college. Some young player is going to make daddies lil girl do somethings out of this world. It's part of life dude.

I don't think the problem is Lindsey or Paris. They get paid to do the things that they do. Something people/Pink should be worried about are all of those dumb "daddy's little girls" on Girls Gone Wild. I'm sure a lot of folks think that their daughter could never be on a tape like that. Well...when in doubt...watch Comedy Central around 2 in the morning. You'll see daddy's little girl slobbing down her best friend....LOL

I love to tell you this...when she goes to college she will still have her parents standards and values. She will command the respect of any man who has enough nerve to approach her. She will require him to meet my wife and I before he can take her out anywhere. And, she will break his arm if he touches her inappropriately.

It's part of life IN OUR FAMILY, dude.

She will bring home the good guy and I commend you for raising a good daughter, but believe me that dog like me is lurking around ready to take a bite out of crime. Every woman experiences a bad boy in life. They might not tell you about him, but he has been there and had fun.
